What you'll bring

You have well-developed expertise in legal analysis, , regulatory compliance, , and risk management. The ability to independently advise business stakeholders on legal matters, , , and handle local Data Protection Authority requests is what defines readiness at this level.

What you'll build

You'll monitor local data privacy and AI related developments and provide proactive legal advice to business stakeholders, drafting local guidance and reviewing legal documents, Data Privacy Impact Assessment, Data Subject rights for your assigned scope. Monitoring data privacy legal landscape, advising and guiding on data privacy, matters, preparation are core accountabilities. Mentoring junior colleagues is an explicit expectation.

The local DPPC/DPO is the main driver for data protection compliance in India. The candidate supports the local CFO who is responsible for compliance with data protection requirements at the local level.

  • The duties and responsibilities of the local DPPC/DPO include:

  • Support the local CFOs for their assigned region in fulfilling their local responsibilities for data privacy issues,

  • Monitor compliance with local privacy regulations and other applicable laws and policies.

  • Analyze changes to local laws and provide gap analysis and support to local implementation projects.

  • Raise management awareness of data privacy compliance issues.

  • Represent SAP's Group Data Privacy Officer (DPO) within SAP's Indian entities based on guidance provided by the DPO team

  • Assist in strengthening the global data protection community within SAP

  • Support in case of:

o Inquiries from regulatory authorities in the assigned region.

o Data privacy breaches,

o Escalations triggered by a data subject; or

o Other supervisory requests

  • Act as main point of contact for local supervisory authorities

  • Assist in the creation of local data protection policies or standards required for India

  • Harmonize documentation, processes, and overall data protection approach for India in close coordination with DPP team

  • Provide education and training to ensure profound knowledge required to help SAP comply with applicable data protection laws within the assigned region

  • Ensure documentation of data privacy compliance based on DPP Control Framework

Required skills :

• University degree in law

• Good knowledge of data protection laws and best practices and/or strong desire to learn data protection laws for India and Europe

• Good project management skills

• Fluency in English and the main language in India

• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

• Assertive and convincing personality, high level of commitment and flexibility

• Good team-working skills

• Ability to work in an international environment.
