As Manager, Accounts Payable, you will oversee the full accounts payable lifecycle while leading a team and maintaining hands-on involvement in daily financial operations. You will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payments across domestic and international transactions, including foreign-currency payments. Working closely with Finance and Administration leadership, you will strengthen financial controls, improve reporting accuracy, and support month-end and year-end closing activities. You will manage vendor relationships, resolve complex payment issues, and oversee expense management systems and associated workflows. Through effective team leadership and cross-functional collaboration, you will promote accountability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. This remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounts payable professional who combines technical expertise with people management and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. You will contribute to the organization's financial integrity while helping build scalable processes and a reliable, service-focused finance function.
Oversee the full accounts payable lifecycle: Manage and actively participate in invoice intake and review, coding validation, approval routing, payment-batch preparation, payment release coordination, vendor issue resolution, account reconciliations, and month-end close support. Manage domestic and international payments: Prepare, review, and process payments through ACH, domestic and international wire transfers, checks, virtual cards, and other applicable payment methods. Ensure foreign-currency transactions are appropriately documented, authorized, reconciled, and compliant with established procedures. Maintain payment accuracy and internal controls: Verify invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy, authorization, coding, tax treatment, payment terms, and compliance with organizational policies. Coordinate approvals and payment releases in accordance with internal control requirements. Manage vendor relationships: Serve as the primary escalation point for vendor inquiries, payment discrepancies, disputes, rejected or returned transactions, and other payment-related issues. Oversee vendor onboarding, record maintenance, documentation, W-9 collection, and vendor data validation. Monitor cash flow and payment schedules: Track accounts payable aging, payment deadlines, outstanding liabilities, and cash requirements to support effective financial planning and timely vendor payments. Lead reconciliations and financial reporting: Maintain responsibility for accounts payable-related balance sheet accounts, review journal entries, and prepare or oversee monthly reconciliations for accounts payable, prepayments, accrued liabilities, and related accounts. Support financial close and tax compliance: Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, journal entries, account analyses, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Manage annual IRS Form 1099 reporting and filing, including vendor eligibility validation and timely distribution. Develop performance metrics: Partner with Finance leadership to establish and report on accounts payable performance indicators, including invoice processing times, vendor onboarding, payment accuracy, service levels, and operational efficiency. Administer expense management systems: Manage the organization's travel and expense management and accounts payable automation platform, currently Concur. Oversee system configuration, approval workflows, user access, policy administration, expense reviews, and user support. Strengthen systems and processes: Monitor system performance and integrations, identify data anomalies, and recommend improvements through automation, enhanced reporting, and process redesign. Collaborate with IT, Finance, and business stakeholders to improve system functionality and data integrity. Lead and develop the accounts payable team: Directly supervise the Accounts Payable Specialist, allocating workloads, setting performance expectations, providing coaching and feedback, and supporting professional development. Maintain hands-on operational leadership: Step into transaction-level work when needed to resolve complex issues, meet deadlines, provide backup coverage, and maintain service quality. Review team output for accuracy, timeliness, documentation, and compliance. Promote continuity and accountability: Develop cross-training plans, maintain process documentation, establish backup coverage, and foster a collaborative culture focused on customer service, reliability, and continuous improvement. Support audits and strategic initiatives: Respond to audit requests, contribute to special projects, and collaborate with Finance and Administration leadership on cross-functional initiatives and broader organizational objectives. Requirements: Professional experience: At least five years of progressively responsible experience in accounts payable, accounting, or financial operations, including substantial hands-on ownership of the full accounts payable lifecycle. People management: At least two years of formal management experience, including workload allocation, performance management, employee coaching, feedback, and professional development.
