This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager of Strategic Communications based in Canada. This is a permanent, full-time remote leadership role responsible for guiding strategic communications across a national, community-focused organization. You will translate organizational priorities into clear communications strategies, campaigns, content, and engagement initiatives. The role combines people leadership, communications planning, project management, digital content oversight, and hands-on quality assurance. You will work closely with internal teams, leadership, community members, partners, and external stakeholders to ensure communications are consistent, accessible, culturally appropriate, and impactful. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen communications systems, develop sustainable team practices, and improve how stories, priorities, and initiatives are shared. The environment emphasizes collaboration, flexibility, relational accountability, Indigenous perspectives, and meaningful community impact.

Develop and implement communications plans that align with organizational priorities, campaigns, programs, and strategic objectives. Translate organizational goals into clear communications objectives, audiences, channels, timelines, and deliverables. Collaborate across departments to identify communications opportunities, emerging needs, potential risks, and engagement priorities. Maintain an organizational communications calendar covering campaigns, announcements, events, and other key activities. Monitor communications effectiveness through engagement data and organizational priorities, using insights to recommend improvements. Develop and maintain communications workflows, procedures, project management practices, and documentation. Manage communications projects using Asana or comparable tools, including timelines, assignments, dependencies, approvals, and delivery milestones. Monitor team capacity, project progress, competing priorities, and risks, escalating significant barriers when appropriate. Oversee social media, website content, campaigns, and other digital communications while ensuring accuracy, accessibility, cultural appropriateness, consistency, and alignment. Guide social media strategies, content calendars, digital initiatives, and campaign execution while monitoring performance metrics. Review, edit, proofread, refine, and when appropriate draft communications materials, key messages, presentations, and other content. Maintain organizational voice, brand standards, accessibility practices, templates, style guides, and communications resources. Manage day-to-day Communications team operations, priorities, and delivery while translating organizational direction into clear responsibilities and outcomes. Supervise, coach, mentor, onboard, and support direct reports, including providing feedback, professional development, advocacy, and performance management. Maintain continuity of communications operations during staff absences or capacity constraints by adjusting priorities and supporting essential communications functions. Strengthen team processes, tools, workflows, and resource planning to support sustainable operations. Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment grounded in respectful communication, care, and relational accountability. Participate in staff meetings, committees, working groups, community initiatives, and engagement activities that advance organizational objectives. Support regional gatherings, meetings, and community engagement events as required. Uphold high standards of integrity, confidentiality, health and safety, accessibility, and professional conduct. Requirements Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, business administration, or a related field is considered an asset. 3+ years of experience in external communications, public relations, strategic communications, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in a leadership position involving staff supervision or management. Strong working knowledge of Asana or comparable project management software, including workflows, timelines, assignments, dependencies, and approvals. Working proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or comparable professional design software, with the ability to make basic content adjustments when required. Experience supporting internal communications and incorporating data or audience insights into communications strategies is an asset. Experience working with Indigenous youth and communities is an asset. French and English bilingualism is an asset. Strong ability to connect communications activities to broader organizational priorities and objectives. Proven leadership and team-development skills, including coaching, mentorship, feedback, accountability, and clear direction. Strong operational communications knowledge, with the ability to provide hands-on support when team capacity changes. Excellent collaboration and partnership-building skills across internal teams and external stakeholders. Strong project management abilities, including managing multiple priorities, timelines, resources, dependencies, and competing demands. Demonstrated cultural integrity and relational accountability, with an ability to approach communications through principles of care, respect, responsibility, reciprocity, and Indigenous perspectives. Strong quality-assurance skills, including the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, accessibility concerns, cultural considerations, and reputational risks. Sound judgment and decision-making skills, including the ability to prioritize effectively and escalate issues appropriately. Strong process-development skills and an ability to improve workflows, tools, documentation, and shared practices. Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, attention to detail, and relationship-building skills. Benefits Annual salary of $70,675–$82,680 CAD . Fully remote position for candidates residing in Canada. Flexible work-week options, including 4-day and 5-day work weeks . Health benefits beginning after a 3-month probationary period. Employer GRRSP contribution equivalent to 5% of salary . 15 vacation days , statutory holidays, and an additional 2-week winter closure . 15 personal days annually. 5 cultural days annually. $1,500 annual professional development benefit following the 3-month probationary period. 5 paid volunteer hours per month at an organization of your choice.
