Mauritius Scholarships to Children from Vulnerable Families — 2026/27

For eligible Mauritian candidates, the scheme provides an annual/living allowance of Rs 100,000 per year and tuition support up to Rs 225,000 per academic year for up to four years. Eligible candidates from Rodrigues and the Outer Islands receive a Rs 12,000 monthly living allowance, tuition support up to Rs 225,000 per academic year for up to four years, an additional Rs 50,000 for board and lodging, and one economy return airfare or ship journey per academic year when possible. The award is initially for one year and can be renewed annually subject to progression. Applications are submitted in paper form to the Scholarships Section (SRM), Ministry of Education and Human Resource, 1st Floor, MITD House, Pont Fer, Phoenix 73544.

Applicants must be citizens of the Republic of Mauritius from vulnerable families who qualify under the Social Register of Mauritius. The published monthly household-income threshold, including social benefits, is Rs 16,400 or a later government-set threshold. Applicants must be no older than 25 when applying, must be in the first year of study, must not be employed during the course, and must not receive another education grant or scholarship. Undergraduate and professional routes require the stated HSC/GCE A-Level standard or equivalent and admission to an accredited full-time local programme; eligible TVET routes include accredited National Diploma/Higher National Diploma programmes and diploma study at Polytechnics Mauritius Limited.
