Full job description
NISC develops and implements enterprise-level and customer-facing software solutions for over 960+ energy cooperatives and communication organizations across North America. Our mission is to deliver technology solutions and services that are Member-focused, quality-driven and valued-priced. We exist to serve our Members and help them serve their communities through our innovative software products, services and outstanding customer support. We are an AI-forward company committed to being a technology leader in our industry. NISC has been ranked in ComputerWorld’s Best Places to Work for 23 years, and we are looking for qualified individuals to join our team. About this Job: The primary focus of this position is to provide virtual and onsite adoption, training, and consulting services that help Members get the most out of NISC’s AI Assistant and the agentic workflows built across the NISC enterprise. This is not a support or product management role. The Member Value Consultant advises Members on best practices, helps them find where AI can make their work easier, and shows them how to measure the results. Hands-on experience with generative AI tools is a must, and knowledge of the Utility and Broadband industries is a plus. The position resides in the Member Value team within the Member Success division and works closely with an enterprise team of Member Value Consultants and the Account Management team. The mission of the position is to enhance the success of Members and other NISC employees through providing expertise and guidance on AI best practices. Technology and NISC’s approach continue to evolve, so a person with strong initiative, curiosity, and an innovative mindset is the right fit for this team. This position is expected to have low to moderate level amounts of travel required, depending on Member needs and assignments such as event presentations. What you will do as the Member Value Consultant: Provide remote and onsite consulting, training, and implementation guidance to Members on using NISC’s AI Assistant and agentic workflows. Assess Member readiness and identify which teams (such as billing, customer service, engineering, operations, and finance) stand to gain the most. Interview Member staff to find repetitive, high-effort, or error-prone work that is a good fit for AI, and help prioritize use cases by value, effort, and risk. Advise Members on best practices for AI use, including workflow design, review and approval steps, prompt standards, and phased rollout. Coach Member staff on writing effective prompts and structuring requests for their own work. Develop and deliver role-based training and workshops to internal and external stakeholders as needed. Create practical learning content such as prompt guides, quick-start sheets, short videos, and peer-use examples. Document proven workflows as repeatable playbooks and maintain a library of best practices that does not expose any Member’s data. Build and support a champions program, with one or two power users at each Member who help their own staff. Agree on success metrics with each Member up front, capture a baseline before rollout, and track usage and adoption over time. Flag Members whose adoption is stalling and recommend next steps. Produce clear, concise value summaries that Members can share with their own leadership and boards. Set clear expectations on what the AI can and cannot do, including accuracy limits and the need for human review of Member-facing and financial output. Coordinate with Information Security and Compliance on data handling and acceptable use and help Members develop their own AI usage guidelines. Serve as onsite champion and change manager for Member AI initiatives, addressing skepticism and change fatigue directly. Report honestly on what is and is not working, including when a use case does not pay off. Share recurring themes from Member engagements with Product and Support through established channels and refer break/fix and defect issues to Support. Publish release notes and “what’s new” updates in plain language, along with tips and Member success stories. Coordinate and present at Member events, user groups, webinars, and industry related events as needed. Keep current as the tools change and set aside time to test new AI capabilities internally. Low to moderate level travel is required, depending on Member needs and assignments such as event presentations. Other duties assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred: 5-10 years of related experience in customer-facing consulting, training, business analyst, or solutions role preferred. Hands-on experience using generative AI tools for real work, including writing effective prompts and judging output quality. Working understanding what current AI tools do well and where they fall short, and the ability to explain both plainly. Experience configuring or supporting agentic or workflow automation tools is helpful to this role, although not a requirement. Working knowledge of the Utility and Broadband industries, or experience with NISC products and Member workflows. Familiarity with data privacy and acceptable-use practices for enterprise AI. Advanced presentation, facilitation, and training skills, including teaching non-technical staff with varying comfort levels. Consultative approach: listens first and recommends what fits the Member’s situation rather than pushing features. Comfortable working with usage and performance data to show results. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including guides, summaries, and Member communications for a non-technical audience. Advanced level understanding of change management best practices. Good judgment on risk, including knowing when output needs human review and when to route a question to Security or Compliance. Excellent research and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Excellent ability to organize and prioritize, multitask, and manage time. Excellent ability to set and manage internal and external Member/Customer expectations. Excellent ability to demonstrate initiative and accountability. Ability to travel as often as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the position. NISC’s Shared Values & Competencies: Integrity – We are committed to doing the right thing – always. Relationships – We are committed to building and preserving lasting relationships. Innovation – We promote the spirit of creativity and champion new ideas. Teamwork – We exemplify the cooperative spirit by working together. Empowerment – We believe individuals have the power to make a difference. Education Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience. Minimum Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
