The 2027 MHRC-Mitacs Annual Indigenous Mental Health Studentship launches 30 September 2026 at 9:00 AM ET and closes 28 October 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Funding is CAD 15,000 per project. Partners include Mitacs, Health Research BC, Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation and Research Manitoba.
Eligibility requirements
The programme is designed for Indigenous early-career researchers undertaking community mental-health projects. Official Canadian scholarship guidance specifies Canadian citizen or permanent resident applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis, are enrolled in an eligible Canadian undergraduate, master's, college or PhD programme in psychology or a related field, and develop community-grounded Indigenous mental-health research with academic supervision and an Indigenous community organization or local service provider.
