MONETIZATION STRATEGIST
Full job description
MONETIZATION STRATEGIST Paid.ai http://Paid.ai · London · In-person · Full-time ABOUT PAID Paid is the monetization engine built for the agent economy. Our software allows firms to meter agent actions, price them, bill for them, and prove the value they delivered. Our team helps them get that model right. Backed by Sequoia, Lightspeed, and EQT, we're defining a new category at the centre of the agentic economy. THE ROLE You will be joining the Monetization Engineering team as a Monetization Strategist. This is perhaps the most important role at Paid, responsible for winning the trust of prospects and delighting customers. You’ll act as the face of the company, interfacing with founders and C-suite executives in live sales, during implementations, and as a partner long after the contract is signed. You need to be two things: an expert in software monetization, and motivated to make customers successful. You will diagnose the problems faced by a business, design the monetization that achieves their objectives, get it implemented within Paid, and guide their adjustments as it experiences contact with the market. You will then bring those learnings back into Paid, developing best practice, shaping the product roadmap, and iterating on our go-to-market strategy. Ultimately there are many places this role can go. You will form the nucleus of a rapidly growing function, and we want you to be part of building that. You could also as the business scales move into functions such as Sales, Product Marketing, Product Strategy, Commercial Strategy, or Partnerships. THE SOFTWARE Paid’s platform is the metering and billing software built for the agent economy. The existing tools on the market count a vendor's ingredients — tokens, calls, seats — and treat every event as immutable as soon as it's written. Paid handles the messy complexity of agentic billing, from effort-based to outcome-based, with end-to-end visibility and auditability from raw signal to billed unit. Our flexible architecture unlocks agentic vendors' commercial creativity, allowing them to confidently adopt the commercial model that best aligns to the value their product provides and customers trust. WHAT YOU'LL DO Your initial focus will be working directly with customers. As you settle into the role and the team grows your focus will shift towards elements such as internal capability building, winning deals, and running of the business.
- Architect monetization strategies with founders and executives as part of live sales cycles: diagnose issues with their current model, review potential paths forward, and convince them that Paid is the solution
- Own the outcome after signature, mobilizing Paid and customer resources to translate the agreed model into a successful implementation and rollout
- Manage the ongoing relationship with the customer, helping them iterate and expand their use of Paid
- Codify learnings into both customer-facing playbooks, diagnostics and benchmarks, and Paid’s own strategy, product, positioning, and pricing
- Contribute to business development and thought leadership: content that positions yourself and Paid as foremost experts in this space
- Shape Paid’s product roadmap based on strategic analysis and your learnings from the market
- Build and develop the function, taking on direct reports and coaching them
- Everything you would generally expect in a start-up! WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR MUST HAVE
- Directly relevant experience in at least one of: a pricing or commercial strategy consultancy practice working on software monetization, or an in-house role owning pricing or monetization at a software company
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders one-on-one: we need to trust you to be alone in a room with an intelligent and sceptical founder
- Demonstrated experience managing projects end-to-end, from design through delivery
- Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail, alongside pragmatism about when they’re required
- Significant interest in the AI ecosystem, fluency in recent developments, and an understanding of underlying unit economics
- The willingness and ability as a front-line operator to build spreadsheets, presentations, processes, playbooks, etc., from scratch yourself utilizing AI
- Strong motivation to take accountability and drive successful customer outcomes, no matter what that takes
- Based in or willing to relocate to London, willing to travel 20% of the time, typically to San Francisco NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with usage, output, or outcome-based pricing

- Technical fluency: you’re comfortable discussing APIs, SDKs, and iframes
- Ability to write clear, concise, and elegantly worded prose
- Front-line experience with a pricing migration and its aftermath: grandfathering, sales enablement, the customer conversations nobody enjoys COMPENSATION We are hiring across a range of seniorities: compensation will be competitive, proportionate to experience, and include equity options.
