The current NEH–BSF partnership supports joint humanities proposals by U.S. and Israeli scholars through Collaborative Research and Scholarly Editions and Translations.

The two current programme routes share a 16 September 2026 NEH deadline for the U.S. applicant and a 23 September 2026 BSF deadline for the Israeli applicant. BSF support for the Israeli side can be up to US$50,000 per year for 1–3 years, subject to the chosen NEH programme’s own maximum.
Eligibility requirements
U.S. and Israeli scholars must satisfy the regulations of their respective foundations. The partners prepare the proposal jointly; the U.S. scholar submits to NEH and the Israeli scholar then submits the NEH application PDF and BSF materials to BSF. Each Israeli scholar may submit one NEH–BSF application per academic year.
