This is an opportunity to provide advanced emergency care while contributing to clinical leadership, workforce development and ongoing service improvement.As a Nurse Practitioner, you will work as an expert advanced practitioner, providing autonomous, evidence-based clinical nursing care. You will assess adults and children presenting to the Emergency Department, make differential, probable and definitive diagnoses, implement appropriate interventions and evaluate patients' responses to care.You will work closely with medical, nursing and allied health colleagues to support timely, safe and coordinated emergency care. You will also act as a role model, coach and advocate, helping to develop nursing practice, promote quality improvement and support equitable health outcomes for Māori and all communities.About youYou will bring advanced clinical judgement, strong leadership skills and a commitment to culturally safe, patient- and whānau-centred care. You will also have:Current New Zealand Nurse Practitioner registration and the ability to meet Nursing Council of New Zealand continuing competence requirementsAdvanced assessment, diagnostic, critical-thinking and decision-making skillsThe ability to work calmly and professionally in a rapidly changing emergency environmentDemonstrated leadership, coaching, teaching and collaborative relationship-management skillsA commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori health equity, quality improvement and evidence-based practiceThe ability to meet statutory and organisational requirements for working with children, including required safety checkingAbout the Team/ServiceYou will join a multidisciplinary Emergency Department team that includes registered nurses, clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner candidates, emergency medicine specialists, medical officers, registrars, house officers and allied health professionals.The service works closely with primary care, ambulance, community providers and other hospital services to support the continuum of patient care.Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua - MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatū, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.Employing over 2500 people, MidCentral offers a supportive work environment that accepts and values all employees.
