Full job description
Our mission and customers: We are creating the freedom for SMEs to succeed by delivering Europe's leading finance workspace with banking at its core, augmented by financial tools. We are proud to be rated 4.8 on Trustpilot, based on 55,000+ reviews. Our culture puts customer satisfaction at the core of what we do, as proven by our Net Promoter Score of 75 (more about our culture here). Our journey: Founded in 2017 by Alexandre and Steve, Qonto has grown to 1,700 Qontoers serving over 750,000 customers across 8 European countries. We have been profitable since 2023, and we are just getting started. Our beliefs: We hire for skills and potential. With 80+ nationalities, 45% women, of which 56% of women in our leadership team, diversity isn't a program; It's who we are. We've built a discrimination-free hiring process because the best teams are built on merit. AI at Qonto: AI is deeply embedded in how we work (here) - Every Qontoer gets unlimited access to the best AI tools. We want people who experiment without waiting for permission, push AI beyond the obvious, know when to trust it, and when to question it.
Join us as an Operations Tooling Engineer to turn Qonto's Operations Enablement run into a self-improving system — one where every recurring request becomes an opportunity to automate, and where AI and scripting progressively replace manual, repetitive work. You will work closely with Lucas, and join the Operations Engineers team, part of Central Operations Enablement — the transversal pillar that equips Qonto's Operations factories with the tools, data access, and technical standards they need to scale. Our team acts as a Technical Product Partner to those factories: we own the architecture and data flows behind our back-office platform, our ticketing tool (Zendesk), and our telephony tool (Aircall), and we scale what one factory builds into something every factory can rely on. ➡️ What you'll do Handle the run with rigor: triage and resolve day-to-day requests from the run backlog — operational tooling access/config issues, dashboard requests, and ad hoc data queries — with speed and quality, helping Operations Engineers, and Operations Enablement more broadly, scale. Spot the patterns: identify recurring request types within the backlog and quantify their volume, time cost, and risk to prioritize what's worth automating. Design and ship automations: turn repeatable manual tasks into supervised automations via low-code, scripts, and AI tools, documenting how each one is designed, used, and maintained so the team can rely on them without you — reducing lead time and manual effort on the run. Run a continuous improvement loop: for each automation, scope the solution, estimate the expected gain, deploy it, measure the actual impact, keep the documentation up to date, and move to the next candidate; following a "treat → detect pattern → automate → measure → repeat" cycle. Grow into department-wide improvement projects: as you build expertise in AI and operations automation, take on small improvement initiatives, complete with guides and how-tos, that extend the tools and automations built for our team to other Operations factories. ➡️ What we're looking for Experience: You have 1-2 years of experience, with a background in engineering or a business school, and you're comfortable being hands-on with tools and data from day one. Technical curiosity & tooling: You're comfortable navigating and troubleshooting operational tools (back-office platforms, Zendesk, Aircall, or equivalent CRM/ticketing/telephony platforms) and are excited to script and automate rather than repeat manual steps. Data & querying: You can run data analysis to investigate issues, build dashboards, and size the impact of a problem before deciding whether it's worth solving. Automation mindset: You have some exposure to low-code, iPaaS, Python, or similar tools, and you naturally ask "how do I make this happen without me?" when faced with a repetitive task. Structured problem-solving: You can scope a small project end-to-end — from noticing a recurring pain point to shipping and measuring a fix — with autonomy and follow-through. Languages: Fluent English is required; French and/or another European language is a huge plus. ➡️ What we can offer you Team & market context: You'll join the Operations Engineers team within Central Operations Enablement, the technical backbone that keeps tooling and processes running smoothly, connected and scaling for teams across the Operations department. Methodologies: We work in a continuous improvement loop; treat, detect patterns, automate, measure, repeat. And we act as a proactive partner to Operations factories, one step ahead rather than waiting to be tasked. Growth path: Grow from day-to-day operations into AI-driven automation and cross-factory projects, mentored by Lucas and experienced colleagues who have scaled operational processes. Tools: back-office platforms, Zendesk, Aircall, dashboarding tools, iPaaS (Zapier, Make), SQL, and full access to AI tools to build faster. ➡️ Your future manager Your Team Lead will be Lucas, our Lead Ops Engineering. Their background? After a first experience in Supply Chain optimization in a consulting company, Lucas joined Qonto 5 years ago as an Operations Engineer specializing in the payment system, before growing into Team Lead of the Operations Engineers team. What do they bring to the team? Lucas is known for balancing technical feasibility with real business and operational constraints, and for spotting systemic improvements that go beyond what was initially asked. He makes a point of investing time in mentoring, so the team builds that same instinct for framing problems and grounding decisions in data.
