Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Administrator based in the United States. We are seeking a skilled Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Administrator to support a six-month consulting engagement focused on managing, securing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure environments. In this hands-on role, you will oversee cloud networking, identity and access management, infrastructure monitoring, security configurations, and operational troubleshooting. You will play a key role in maintaining reliable cloud services by investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions. Working with networking technologies, access management tools, and infrastructure automation solutions, you will help ensure secure connectivity and efficient resource utilization across cloud and hybrid environments. You will also contribute to operational excellence by documenting configurations, applying security best practices, and improving infrastructure reliability. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced cloud professional who can work independently, solve complex technical challenges, and deliver secure, scalable infrastructure solutions.
Administer cloud infrastructure: Configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services to ensure availability, reliability, performance, and operational stability. Manage cloud networking: Configure and maintain Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs), Network Security Groups (NSGs), security lists, DNS, routing, firewalls, Dynamic Routing Gateways (DRGs), VPNs, FastConnect, and VCN peering. Oversee identity and access management: Manage IAM policies, compartments, user groups, dynamic groups, identity federation, and single sign-on (SSO) to ensure secure and appropriate access to cloud resources. Support identity integrations: Maintain and troubleshoot integrations with Microsoft Entra ID to facilitate secure authentication and access management across cloud environments. Monitor infrastructure performance: Track metrics, alarms, logs, capacity, resource utilization, and performance indicators to identify issues and maintain efficient cloud operations. Investigate and resolve incidents: Diagnose infrastructure and connectivity issues, conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and help prevent recurring incidents. Maintain cloud security: Apply cloud security controls, access management policies, network protection measures, and operational best practices to protect infrastructure and information. Support infrastructure automation: Use Terraform and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Resource Manager, where applicable, to support infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational consistency. Manage hybrid-cloud connectivity: Support secure connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments, troubleshooting network dependencies and ensuring reliable communication across systems. Optimize resource utilization: Assess infrastructure capacity, monitor resource consumption, identify performance bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to efficiency and reliability. Document technical configurations: Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure settings, network architectures, access policies, incidents, troubleshooting procedures, and resolutions. Work independently and meet engagement objectives: Take ownership of assigned technical tasks, communicate progress and risks clearly, and deliver solutions within project timelines. Meet client security requirements: Complete all required security checks and approvals before accessing client systems, infrastructure, or confidential information. Requirements: Cloud infrastructure experience: Hands-on experience administering Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or a comparable public cloud platform, with the ability to independently configure, maintain, and troubleshoot cloud environments. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certification: A current OCI certification is required, such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional. Candidates must be able to provide the exact certification name and current status. Cloud networking expertise: Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VCNs, network security rules, routing, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, DRGs, FastConnect, and private connectivity. Identity and access management: Practical experience configuring and troubleshooting IAM policies, compartments, groups, identity federation, authentication, and single sign-on. Infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting: Experience monitoring cloud services, analyzing metrics and logs, investigating incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective measures. Cloud security knowledge: Understanding of cloud security controls, access governance, network security, operational risk management, and infrastructure protection practices. Capacity and performance management: Ability to assess resource utilization, identify capacity constraints, analyze performance issues, and support efficient infrastructure operations. Infrastructure automation: Familiarity with Terraform and OCI Resource Manager for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management is preferred. Identity integration experience: Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID and enterprise identity integration is an advantage. Hybrid-cloud experience: Understanding of hybrid-cloud architectures and the connectivity requirements between cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure is preferred. Analytical and problem-solving skills: Strong technical troubleshooting capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to investigate complex issues independently and develop practical solutions. Documentation and communication: Excellent technical documentation and communication skills, including the ability to explain configurations, incidents, and resolutions clearly to relevant stakeholders. Independent working style: Ability to manage priorities, exercise sound technical judgment, take ownership of deliverables, and work effectively with minimal supervision. Contract engagement requirements: Willingness and ability to work as a 1099 independent contractor for the full six-month engagement. Security and compliance: Ability to successfully complete all client-required security requirements before accessing client systems or information. Availability: Ability to align with project requirements, communicate interview availability, and coordinate a timely start. Benefits: Competitive hourly compensation: $60–$80 per hour, depending on professional experience, education, and certifications. Fully remote engagement: Work remotely from within the United States. Six-month consulting contract: A defined engagement focused on cloud infrastructure administration, security, networking, and operational reliability. Hands-on technical experience: Opportunity to work directly with OCI services, cloud networking, IAM, infrastructure monitoring, and hybrid-cloud connectivity. Cloud automation exposure: Opportunity to apply and strengthen skills in Terraform and OCI Resource Manager where relevant to the project. Technical ownership: Take responsibility for infrastructure administration, incident resolution, security configuration, and technical documentation. Professional development: Further develop specialized cloud infrastructure expertise and gain practical experience addressing complex operational challenges. Meaningful technical impact: Help maintain secure, reliable, and efficient cloud environments through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
