Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Paid Ads Specialist (Google + Meta) based in Canada. Take ownership of paid acquisition across Google and Meta, driving new-customer revenue while maintaining sustainable customer acquisition costs. You will scale an established Google Ads account spending over $100,000 per month while building Meta advertising from the ground up. Combining performance marketing, customer research, creative development, and data analysis, you will turn customer insights into measurable growth opportunities. You will also use AI-powered tools and workflows to accelerate research, produce creatives, and generate actionable reporting. Working directly with senior leadership in a fully remote environment, you will have significant autonomy to shape acquisition strategy, influence business decisions, and test new advertising channels.
The Paid Ads Specialist will own the complete paid acquisition process, from audience research and campaign execution to creative testing, tracking, and revenue reporting. The focus is on measurable business outcomes, profitable growth, and continuous experimentation. Google Ads management: Manage and scale an established advertising account spending more than $100,000 per month across Search, Performance Max, Shopping, and YouTube, optimizing automated bidding strategies using conversion values, customer status, and available margin data. Meta advertising: Build the advertising account from scratch, establish campaign structures and testing frameworks, and scale successful campaigns. Audience research: Analyze first-party customer data, CRM segments, search terms, customer lists, and audience signals to identify high-value customer groups and refine targeting strategies. Customer insight and creative strategy: Research customer reviews, sales conversations, support tickets, forums, and competitor advertising to identify compelling messaging angles, hooks, and creative opportunities. AI-powered creative production: Develop static ads, user-generated-content-style videos, and motion creatives using AI tools, collaborating with designers when specialized production is needed. Budget and profitability management: Set budgets, bids, and performance targets based on product- and market-specific unit economics, including contribution margin, average order value, lifetime value, payback period, and break-even acquisition costs. Testing and experimentation: Design structured experiments with clear hypotheses, primary metrics, sufficient budgets, and documented results. Evaluate incrementality through holdout, geographic, or lift tests when appropriate. Tracking and attribution: Verify conversion tracking across GA4, Google Tag Manager, Conversion API, offline conversions, and advertising platforms. Identify data issues and communicate attribution limitations. External specialist management: Identify when additional expertise is required in conversion rate optimization, server-side tracking, video production, product feeds, or localization. Develop briefs, recommend budgets, and manage freelancers or agencies against measurable outcomes. New channel development: Propose and launch additional paid acquisition channels, defining initial tests, budgets, measurement methods, success criteria, and decisions to scale or discontinue. Performance reporting: Report weekly on advertising spend, new customers, customer acquisition cost, and revenue by channel, documenting the source and definition of each metric. AI workflow development: Use AI tools and custom workflows to accelerate research, creative production, reporting, and analysis while validating outputs before implementation. Requirements: The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, commercially minded performance marketer who combines hands-on campaign management with creative thinking, technical knowledge, and strong ownership of business results. At least 5 years of hands-on paid acquisition experience, with direct responsibility for building and managing advertising accounts. Proven experience personally managing at least $50,000 per month in Google Ads spend. Strong knowledge of automated bidding strategies, including target ROAS, target CPA, value-based bidding, and Performance Max, with the ability to diagnose underperformance. Demonstrated experience building a Meta advertising account from scratch. Strong understanding of unit economics, including margins, average order value, lifetime value, payback periods, and break-even customer acquisition costs. Experience optimizing campaigns for new-customer revenue rather than total conversions alone. Ability to develop audiences using first-party data and customer research, and explain the origins of successful audience segments. Proven creative ideation skills, with the ability to connect successful advertisements to specific customer insights. A creative portfolio is required. Experience running or interpreting incrementality tests and explaining the limitations of attribution windows and models. Understanding of conversion tracking and how CRM sales data is transmitted to Google and Meta, including potential failure points. Experience independently hiring, briefing, and managing freelancers or agencies to address performance needs. Experience launching at least one new paid acquisition channel from scratch and evaluating its results. Experience running campaigns for products sold across multiple countries. Advanced English proficiency at C1/C2 level. AI-First Capabilities: Candidates must be able to demonstrate practical, daily use of AI rather than simply familiarity with the technology. Use AI for research and analysis of customer reviews, sales transcripts, competitor advertisements, and search terms. Generate image and video creatives using AI models and select appropriate tools for different tasks. Build custom reports and visualizations from raw data using AI rather than relying exclusively on analysts or prebuilt dashboards. Demonstrate workflows, prompts, or agents that meaningfully reduce repetitive work and improve productivity. Critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and verify their accuracy before using them. Nice-to-Have Qualifications: One to two years of experience in a performance marketing agency. Experience in e-commerce, custom products, merchandise, or print-on-demand. Experience with sales funnels combining self-service checkout and sales-led deals. Familiarity with server-side tracking, HubSpot, or Pipedrive. Experience with Microsoft Ads or LinkedIn Ads. Benefits: Fully remote working arrangement with a global location policy. Full-time, exclusive independent contractor engagement. Competitive, flexible compensation tailored to the candidate's experience and impact; no specific salary range is provided. Access to a substantial advertising budget and autonomy to allocate it effectively. Direct collaboration with senior leadership and a hands-on Head of Marketing. Opportunity to contribute to improvements in tracking and attribution infrastructure. Flexibility to choose advertising tools and AI subscriptions. High ownership, minimal bureaucracy, and opportunities to influence marketing strategy and business growth. Additional Information: Candidates should submit their resume or CV in English. The position is fully remote, with working hours or time-zone expectations to be clarified during the hiring process. The engagement is structured as a full-time, exclusive independent contractor role.
