Your Role
Cloover finances thousands of renewable energy installations across Germany and Austria, and the quality of our portfolio decisions determines how fast we can scale. As our Portfolio Management Intern, you’ll run real credit assessments, stress-test real portfolios and contribute to debt structuring conversations that matter. Your work lands in front of senior management and external investors from day one.
You’ll report to the Head of Portfolio Management and work within a small team spanning Risk, Underwriting and Finance.
Your Mission
- Own credit assessments of customer applications end to end, applying internal scoring models and external data to reach well-documented decisions the team can defend.
- Build and improve risk models on portfolio performance, default probability and financial outcomes, so every scenario rests on sharper assumptions.
- Run stress tests and sensitivity analyses that directly shape investment and risk management decisions.
- Monitor exposure, delinquency, refinancing and hedging across Cloover’s financing portfolio, surfacing risks before they become problems.
- Automate underwriting and credit monitoring workflows, shipping tools the team relies on every day.
- Prepare investor and lender reports precise enough for external stakeholders to act on.
- Contribute to the structuring of debt facilities and forward flow agreements.
Qualifications And Requirements
We care more about how you think and what you’ve built than where you’ve been. Here’s what will set you up for success in this role:
- Strong academic track record in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline. You’ve been tested on hard problems and delivered.
- Builds and stress-tests financial models with precision, and is comfortable with complex datasets, risk frameworks and sensitivity analysis where the assumptions matter as much as the outputs.
- Delivers accurate work at speed without waiting for perfect information, and flags uncertainty when it matters.
- Takes full ownership of analytical outputs: if the model is wrong, you find it before anyone else does.
- Explains findings clearly in English, so technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders and investors, can act on them.
- Can explain why the energy transition matters and how that context sharpens your analysis.
- Based in Berlin and energized by being in the room. We’re intentionally office-first: decisions get made in real time, prototypes get stress-tested over lunch, and the founding team is ten meters away. If that’s how you thrive, you’ll feel at home here.
Nice to have (but not required):
- German language proficiency (B2 or above)
- Prior exposure to consumer credit, structured finance or energy project finance
Don’t meet every requirement? Apply anyway. We hire for potential and perspective. Credentials are a starting point, not a ceiling.
How We Hire
We keep things transparent and respect your time. Most go from first call to offer in under three weeks.
- Intro call (30 min): We want to understand what you’re looking for, not just screen your CV.
- Hiring manager interview (30 min): We go deep into your experience, your thinking, and how you approach problems.
- Case study (1 hour): You get the brief in advance. We care about your approach, not whether you land on the right answer.
- Offer & signed contract.

Why Us?
At Cloover, we’re building the AI operating system for the energy transition: a platform that helps thousands of installation companies across Germany and Austria sell more, plan faster, and deliver better. We’ve secured $1.22B in total financing, including $1.2B in committed debt financing and a $22M Series A. We are just getting started on our European expansion.
We’re a high-performance team that works with purpose. We own our work fully, debate ideas hard, commit together, and execute without hesitation. Seniority doesn’t win arguments here. The best idea does. Speed isn’t a deadline we hit, it’s how we’re wired.
And we’re AI-first by default. We’re not experimenting with AI. We’re built on it. Tech ships faster because AI prototypes before we build. Sales closes more because outreach is personalized at scale. Finance stress-tests in real time. People & Culture builds processes in a fraction of the time. Whatever your function, AI is how we punch above our weight, and it’s a skill you’ll develop here faster than almost anywhere else.
We believe the energy transition belongs to everyone, and so does our team. We’re international, driven, and deliberately inclusive. We hire for potential and perspective, and we welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
