RIKEN's Nuclear Dynamics Research Group is recruiting one Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Scientist to develop next-generation semiconductor detector technology and conduct nuclear/particle physics research.

The successful candidate will lead development of AC-coupled low-gain avalanche diodes for RIBF detector arrays and time-of-flight detector work for the Electron-Ion Collider, while conducting physics research. Employment is initially a one-year fixed-term contract renewable subject to evaluation, up to five years for a Postdoctoral Researcher or seven years for a Research Scientist. RIKEN states starting monthly salary plus discretionary-work allowance of at least JPY 382,610 for Postdoctoral Researcher or JPY 448,990 for Research Scientist, with commuting/housing allowances and social insurance.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must already hold a PhD in a related field or expect to obtain it by the hiring date. RIKEN states that Postdoctoral Researcher normally refers to candidates whose doctorate was obtained no more than five years ago, while Research Scientist normally refers to candidates with a doctorate obtained more than five years ago; final assignment depends on ability and aptitude.
