Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Power Systems Engineer III based in Canada. Join an innovative engineering team working to build a modern, secure, and resilient power grid. As a Power Systems Engineer III, you will conduct advanced modeling and transmission planning studies that support reliable electricity delivery and the integration of renewable energy and storage resources. You will contribute to grid reliability assessments, generator interconnection projects, and regulatory compliance analyses. Working with industry experts and energy clients, you will apply specialized engineering tools and programming skills to solve complex power system challenges. This remote opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the energy transition while delivering high-quality technical solutions. Occasional travel may be required, with a flexible work arrangement depending on the position.
You will perform technical studies and develop engineering analyses that support transmission system reliability, grid modernization, and the successful integration of new energy resources. You will also manage assigned projects, maintain technical data, and deliver accurate reports within established timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Conduct power system impact studies, including steady-state, load flow, short-circuit, and dynamic stability analyses. Perform technical analyses to support compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, including TPL-001-4 Annual Planning Assessments. Carry out generator interconnection studies, including Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) analyses when required. Assess whether renewable energy and energy storage projects connecting to the transmission system meet Voltage Ride-Through (VRT) requirements. Participate in Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) working group meetings and support case development for assigned clients. Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting study methods, results, and recommendations. Process, generate, validate, and maintain the data required for engineering studies. Manage assigned projects to ensure timely delivery while meeting quality and budget objectives. Identify training needs and communicate them to the Engineering Manager. Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements: You will bring a solid foundation in electrical engineering, practical experience in power system studies, and the technical skills needed to model and analyze complex transmission networks. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective project management will help you deliver reliable results in a collaborative engineering environment. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required, preferably with a focus on power systems. At least 2–4 years of experience as a power systems engineer. Practical experience conducting power system impact studies, including dynamic stability, load flow, steady-state, and short-circuit analyses. Experience with power system modeling and analysis software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA. Programming or automation experience using Python. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills. Ability to manage assigned projects, meet deadlines, and maintain quality standards. Willingness to travel occasionally, if required. Benefits: Comprehensive health and wellness coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 100% of employee premiums covered. Generous paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays. Employee ownership opportunities through the MyShare program. 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match of up to 4%, fully vested from day one. Flexible working arrangements, including remote and hybrid possibilities depending on the position. Opportunities to collaborate with industry leaders and contribute to the future of energy. Remote work opportunity available in the United States or Canada. Occasional travel of 10% or less, as needed.
