About the Role

Block LLP is seeking an experienced Pre-Litigation Personal Injury Settlement Negotiator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a strategic and results-driven professional who thrives in high-level negotiations, understands the factors that drive case value, and is passionate about securing strong outcomes for injured clients.

The Settlement Negotiator will take ownership of pre-litigation negotiations from demand through resolution, working closely with attorneys, case managers, and clients to maximize settlement value. What You'll Do

Settlement Negotiations

  • Strategically negotiate bodily injury claims during the pre-litigation stage.
  • Manage negotiations from demand through settlement resolution.
  • Advocate aggressively for clients while maintaining professionalism with insurance carriers.
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies designed to maximize settlement outcomes.

Case Evaluation & Strategy

  • Analyze liability, damages, medical treatment, and mechanism of injury to assess case value.
  • Evaluate the cost-benefit of settlement versus litigation.
  • Identify opportunities to increase case value and improve settlement outcomes.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and case managers to develop case-specific negotiation strategies.

Demand Review & Analysis

  • Review demand packages, medical records, billing, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all relevant damages and supporting evidence are properly presented.
  • Identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities within each case.
  • Prepare cases for negotiation by developing thorough case analyses.

Team Collaboration & Client Advocacy

  • Work closely with attorneys, case managers, and support staff throughout the settlement process.
  • Maintain communication regarding negotiation progress and settlement opportunities.
  • Support the firm's commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
  • Contribute to team goals and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience negotiating pre-litigation bodily injury claims.
  • Strong understanding of liability, damages, case valuation, and mechanism of injury.
  • Ability to analyze medical records and medical billing documentation.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demand writing experience.
  • Experience handling serious injury cases.
  • Experience working in a plaintiff-side personal injury law firm.
  • Familiarity with California personal injury claims and settlement practices.
  • Experience negotiating high-value or complex injury claims.
