Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Pricing Lead based in Netherlands. This is a strategic commercial role focused on shaping pricing strategy for a fast-growing European payments business. You’ll own the design, development, testing, and rollout of pricing models and go-to-market approaches across a complex, high-transaction environment. The role sits at the intersection of Finance, Sales, Operations, Technology, and Product, giving you broad visibility and influence across the organization. You’ll use market intelligence, financial data, supplier costs, and customer insights to build pricing strategies that protect margins while supporting growth. A key part of the role is creating scalable pricing tools and processes that enable fast, commercially sound decisions across regions and businesses. This is an opportunity for a commercially minded pricing leader to build new capabilities and have a direct impact on profitability and customer value.
Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of new pricing strategies, models, and go-to-market approaches. Build strong relationships with Product, Sales, Finance, Accounting, Operations, and Technology stakeholders to identify and execute strategic pricing opportunities. Partner with Finance to ensure input costs, financial data, and reconciliation processes are accurately reflected in pricing models. Work closely with Sales teams to incorporate market feedback into pricing tools, offers, and commercial strategies. Collaborate with Accounting to ensure revenue, margin, and profitability are appropriately represented in pricing models and reporting. Identify, maintain, and regularly update input pricing for key suppliers and external cost components. Manage card scheme and interchange costs, including monitoring scheme changes, industry developments, and relevant member communications. Define pricing strategies from underlying input costs through standard, customized, and bundled customer offers. Develop and manage pricing tools that enable efficient, accurate, and commercially effective decision-making during the sales process. Establish and implement a scalable margin management process, including regular profitability monitoring across regions and business units. Lead the re-pricing and ongoing monitoring of existing customers to ensure pricing remains commercially sustainable. Manage incentive and revenue-share arrangements between operating businesses and the wider organization. Design and manage sales incentive programs that align commercial behavior with business objectives. Use data, market research, competitor analysis, and financial insights to identify pricing opportunities and inform strategic decisions. Establish processes and procedures that support a customer-centric and commercially effective approach to pricing and finance. Lead and develop relevant teams while promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Requirements: Significant, demonstrable experience in commercial pricing, management reporting, financial planning, or a comparable strategic finance role within a complex, high-transaction business. Strong understanding of payments pricing, ideally with experience in card payments, interchange, cross-border payments, or card schemes. Proven ability to operate effectively at different organizational levels and build credibility with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. Demonstrated experience using data to develop commercially actionable financial strategies that address both business and customer requirements. Strong strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to respond to regulatory, policy, market, and payment-scheme changes and translate them into pricing strategy. Proven experience developing and implementing new processes, procedures, pricing models, or commercial tools. Experience leading and developing teams, with the ability to create alignment and drive execution across functions. Strong understanding of financial dynamics across different products, customers, and commercial models. Ability to conduct structured research into markets, products, competitors, costs, and customer needs. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain complex pricing concepts to non-specialists in Finance, Sales, Product, and other functions. Highly collaborative, confident, agile, and adaptable, with a proactive approach to learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing. Strong computer and systems literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, Macros, and SQL is a plus. Desirable experience: Knowledge of alternative payment schemes and methods, such as Girocard or other localized European payment solutions. Previous experience in embedded payments or the retail payments industry. Experience working in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment. Experience managing pricing across multiple regions or business units. Familiarity with sales incentive structures, revenue-sharing models, and margin optimization. Benefits: Attractive salary package with performance-based bonus. Fully remote working arrangement. Flexible international working environment. Collaborative culture built around respect, ownership, trust, and accountability. Access to international experts and specialists across a broader European software ecosystem. Opportunities for personal and professional development through collaboration with experienced industry professionals. Exposure to innovative payment solutions and complex commercial challenges across European markets. Opportunity to build and influence pricing capabilities within a growing organization. Regular team events, company celebrations, and opportunities for international collaboration. Equal-opportunity workplace where hiring decisions are based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
