Scholarships from private organizations can be a great way to cover your college costs.

Many organizations offer scholarships for college students. You can find them through your school, a local business, or a club or house of worship your family attends. There are also free search engines to help track them down—we’ve listed some later on this page.

If you do receive a private scholarship, make sure to let Student Financial Support know because it may affect your financial aid offer. Here’s how:

• We’ll first use it to replace your summer savings expectation, if you have one, which will reduce your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) by $1,800. To understand what goes into your EFC, visit Estimate Your Costs.

• After that, we’ll use it to replace the work-study portion of your financial aid offer, if you have one. For example, if you have a $2,700 work-study expectation, you’ll get that money from your private scholarship instead. You may still work part-time on or off campus without work-study.

• If the amount of private scholarship funding you receive is greater than your summer savings and work-study expectations combined ($4,500), the rest of it will go toward replacing your Hopkins Grant, dollar for dollar.

Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (Rotc) Scholarship

The Air Force offers both competitive and non-competitive scholarships to Hopkins students who join the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC).

Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (Rotc) Scholarship

The on-campus Army ROTC program offers tuition scholarships that are renewable for two, three, or four years, often with book allowances and monthly living stipends. You must serve as a commissioned officer after graduation.

How to Apply: Contact your Army recruiting officer, high-school counselor, or the Department of Military Sciences at Hopkins.

Maryland Army National Guard State Tuition Waiver (Stw) And State Tuition Assistance Reimbursement (Star) Programs

Maryland National Guard members enrolled in an undergraduate program at Hopkins are eligible for a 50% reduction in tuition (up to 6 credits).

State Tuition Assistance Reimbursement (STAR) reimburses Maryland National Guard Service Members (SM) up to 100% of tuition and related fees.

National Fellowships Program

The National Fellowships Program encompasses a variety of scholarships that help students deepen their academic training. You’ll grow with the experience of advanced study, living abroad, the chance to join a community of fellows, and the networks that fellowship opportunities open up. You’ll also gain transferable skills, including writing a research proposal, describing your academic passions to various audiences, and pulling together the evolution of your interests into a compelling story.

Beneficial Hodson Trust Employee Tuition Scholarship

If your parent or guardian worked for the Beneficial Corporation for two or more years before June 30, 1998, you may be considered for a scholarship through the Hodson Trust that covers full tuition at Hopkins.

To determine your eligibility, your qualifying parent or guardian must submit a signed and notarized copy of the Hodson Trust Beneficial Scholarship Application to:
