Define the future of autonomous laboratories: Develop and continuously refine a long-term strategic vision for autonomous laboratories, assessing scientific, technological, economic, and operational trends over a five-to-ten-year horizon. Evaluate emerging technologies: Analyze the potential impact of AI, robotics, laboratory automation, connected instruments, digital workflows, data platforms, and autonomous experimentation on scientific productivity and laboratory operations. Drive strategic product decisions: Evaluate new products, solutions, partnerships, and business models, developing business cases that assess customer value, competitive differentiation, technical feasibility, and financial potential. Translate customer insights into opportunities: Engage with scientists, laboratory leaders, executives, key opinion leaders, and strategic customers to identify workflow inefficiencies, data fragmentation, automation gaps, and unmet needs. Develop actionable recommendations: Convert market intelligence, customer feedback, competitive analysis, and laboratory economics into clear product requirements, strategic priorities, investment recommendations, and portfolio opportunities. Influence product roadmaps: Partner with business and product teams to determine which solutions to develop, accelerate, integrate, redesign, pursue through partnerships, or discontinue. Lead cross-functional initiatives: Collaborate with product management, research and development, commercial, digital, service, and business leadership teams to advance strategic initiatives across organizational boundaries. Build integrated solutions: Identify opportunities to combine instruments, software, consumables, automation, services, and data into comprehensive solutions that improve laboratory performance and customer outcomes. Advise senior leadership: Present strategic insights, long-range scenarios, and investment proposals to senior stakeholders, supporting informed decisions about product development, partnerships, and business growth. Monitor market evolution: Distinguish lasting technological and industry shifts from short-term trends to ensure strategic decisions remain relevant, practical, and aligned with customer needs. Requirements: Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in science, engineering, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. A PhD, MBA, or comparable advanced experience is strongly preferred. Professional experience: Typically 12 or more years of relevant experience across product strategy, product management, scientific research, strategy consulting, operations, technology, business development, or related fields. Scientific and technical fluency: Strong interest in emerging technologies, particularly AI, automation, robotics, connected instruments, and digital laboratory ecosystems, combined with sound product judgment. Analytical capabilities: Excellent structured problem-solving skills, financial and business analysis capabilities, and the ability to transform ambiguous information into clear recommendations and actionable priorities. Cross-functional collaboration: A track record of delivering results across diverse teams and working effectively with scientists, engineers, product managers, and commercial stakeholders. Executive communication: Strong presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and build alignment with senior leadership without relying on direct authority. Strategic execution: The ability to balance long-term vision with practical implementation, maintain stakeholder alignment, and ensure consistent follow-through on strategic initiatives.
