Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Engineer – Microsoft 365 & Cloud Migrations based in the United States. Join a technology services team delivering complex IT infrastructure and cloud migration projects for growing, highly regulated organizations. In this remote role, you will lead hands-on technical implementations, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 migrations and cloud-based collaboration solutions. You will manage projects from initial discovery and planning through deployment, validation, troubleshooting, and operational handoff. Working closely with project managers and cross-functional technical teams, you will ensure solutions are secure, reliable, and aligned with client requirements. Your expertise will help organizations modernize their IT environments, streamline collaboration, and improve operational efficiency. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, taking ownership of project outcomes, and working in a dynamic managed service provider (MSP) environment.

Lead Microsoft 365 migrations: Plan and execute Exchange Server-to-Exchange Online migrations, Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations, and Google Workspace-to-Microsoft 365 transitions. Manage collaboration and file migrations: Migrate SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and file shares to platforms such as SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Egnyte, and Box. Configure migration tools: Implement and operate migration solutions such as Quest On Demand Migration, AvePoint Fly, BitTitan, and ShareGate, selecting appropriate tools based on project requirements. Manage identity and infrastructure dependencies: Support Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, DNS, authentication, permissions, mail flow, and related infrastructure components throughout migration projects. Execute migration phases: Conduct technical discovery, pilot migrations, delta synchronization, cutovers, post-migration validation, and troubleshooting to ensure successful implementations. Resolve technical issues: Diagnose and address migration errors, identity conflicts, permission inconsistencies, endpoint transition issues, and other implementation challenges. Own project delivery: Manage assigned technical activities from planning through completion, coordinating with project managers on scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and priorities. Maintain project documentation: Record technical configurations, migration exceptions, project progress, time entries, outcomes, and operational handoff requirements. Support post-implementation activities: Assist with cutovers, validation, end-user support, and the transition of completed solutions to ongoing operations. Collaborate across technical disciplines: Apply working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, virtualization, and endpoint management to identify dependencies and support successful project delivery. Meet operational expectations: Maintain agreed billable utilization and be available for occasional travel, evening work, and weekend migrations when required. Requirements Professional experience: At least five years of relevant IT experience, including substantial hands-on Microsoft 365 administration and migration delivery. Microsoft 365 expertise: Demonstrated experience administering Exchange Online and executing Exchange Server migrations, Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations, and collaboration platform transitions. Migration technologies: Practical experience with Quest On Demand Migration, AvePoint Fly, BitTitan, or ShareGate. Experience with Quest or AvePoint is particularly valued. Identity and access management: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory integration, identity synchronization, permissions, authentication, and mail flow dependencies. Collaboration and file platforms: Experience migrating Exchange, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and file shares to modern cloud-based environments. Infrastructure knowledge: Working familiarity with Windows Server, DNS, firewall connectivity, Microsoft Intune, Azure fundamentals, hybrid identity, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and cloud file platforms. End-to-end project delivery: Proven ability to execute infrastructure projects, migrations, or upgrades from discovery and planning through deployment, troubleshooting, validation, and handoff in a client-facing or MSP environment. Technical problem-solving: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues independently and collaborate effectively across infrastructure, networking, security, and cloud teams. Project coordination and communication: Ability to work with project managers, technical colleagues, and clients while maintaining accurate documentation, providing clear status updates, and managing delivery expectations. Adaptability and ownership: A proactive approach to problem-solving, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic service environment. Travel and schedule flexibility: Availability to travel for client projects approximately once per month and regularly work evenings or weekends to support scheduled migrations and infrastructure upgrades. Work authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States in accordance with applicable employment requirements. Benefits Competitive salary: Expected annual base salary of $85,000–$120,000 , depending on experience, skills, geographic location, and applicable requirements. Bonus opportunities: Eligibility for additional bonuses or incentive compensation, depending on position level and company plans. Comprehensive healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
