Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Engineer - Network Infrastructure & Office Deployments based in the United States. As a Project Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and deployment of network infrastructure solutions across diverse client environments. You will manage projects ranging from new office installations and relocations to network refreshes, infrastructure upgrades, and connectivity improvements. Working closely with project managers, clients, internet service providers, and technical partners, you will ensure every deployment is secure, reliable, and aligned with business requirements. You will take ownership of technical delivery from initial planning through configuration, validation, and final handoff to operations. This hands-on role combines networking expertise with troubleshooting, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration. You will join a remote-first environment supporting organizations that depend on robust IT infrastructure to operate efficiently and securely.
You will take responsibility for delivering network infrastructure projects from planning through completion, ensuring technical quality, effective coordination, and a smooth transition to ongoing operations. Design and deploy network infrastructure: Plan and implement infrastructure for new offices, office relocations, network refreshes, and connectivity upgrades. Configure network hardware: Install and configure firewalls, managed switches, wireless access points, and related equipment. Implement network services: Configure VLANs, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing, firewall policies, site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, SD-WAN, and ISP failover solutions. Troubleshoot connectivity and performance: Diagnose and resolve routing, wireless, network connectivity, and performance issues across client environments. Coordinate external partners: Work with internet service providers, cabling contractors, third-party vendors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently. Manage project execution: Own assigned technical tasks from planning to completion, coordinating with project managers on approved scope, budgets, schedules, and risks. Document technical solutions: Maintain accurate network diagrams, IP addressing plans, configuration records, project updates, and handoff documentation. Support deployments and transitions: Execute cutovers, validate implementations, provide post-deployment support, and ensure a seamless handoff to operational support teams. Collaborate across technical disciplines: Apply foundational knowledge of networking, cloud, infrastructure, security, and identity technologies to address dependencies and support integrated solutions. Maintain delivery standards: Record time accurately, meet departmental billable-utilization expectations, and support scheduled after-hours upgrades and migrations. Requirements: The ideal candidate is an experienced infrastructure engineer with strong hands-on networking skills, proven project ownership, and the ability to deliver reliable solutions in a managed service provider (MSP) or IT consulting environment. At least 5 years of relevant IT infrastructure experience, including hands-on network deployments. Demonstrated ability to independently execute network infrastructure projects, including office deployments, relocations, refreshes, and cutovers. Practical experience configuring Fortinet FortiGate and Meraki firewalls. Hands-on switching experience with Cisco, Meraki, UniFi, and Fortinet technologies. Wireless networking experience with Meraki, Aruba, and UniFi access points. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, routing, and firewall configuration. Working familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Azure networking fundamentals. Familiarity with storage and backup platforms such as Synology, Dell EMC, and Veeam. Ability to understand dependencies across infrastructure, cloud, security, and identity systems while collaborating effectively with specialists in other disciplines. Strong troubleshooting, planning, documentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage technical assignments independently. Effective communication and client-facing skills, including coordination with project managers, vendors, and other stakeholders. Willingness and ability to travel for project work at least once per month. Flexibility to work nights and weekends regularly for scheduled upgrades, migrations, and other activities requiring off-hours implementation. Benefits: Annual salary: $85,000–$120,000, depending on relevant skills, experience, geographic location, and applicable state or local requirements. Bonus opportunities: Potential eligibility for additional bonuses or incentive compensation based on role level and company plans. Health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance. Insurance protection: Life insurance and disability insurance. Paid leave: Paid parental leave, holiday pay, flexible vacation, and sick days. Company holidays: Fourteen holidays annually, including a day off for your birthday. Recognition and rewards: Spot bonuses recognizing exceptional performance. Well-being support: A $100 well-being allowance and additional health and wellness perks. Professional development: Learning and development opportunities to support continued technical growth. Team engagement: Community activities and social events. Remote flexibility: Remote work within the United States, with benefits and perks potentially varying by location.
