We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex projects from early planning and design through construction and final closeout, with an initial focus on data center development. In this role, you will coordinate clients, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to deliver projects aligned with defined goals, budgets, schedules, and quality standards. You will oversee project controls, procurement, contracts, documentation, and construction activities while proactively managing risks and identifying opportunities for improvement. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to technically sophisticated, mission-critical infrastructure projects in a collaborative, client-focused environment. You will serve as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution. This is a remote opportunity, with a preference for candidates based in Chicago, Virginia, Denver, or Texas.
Lead end-to-end project delivery: Manage projects from early-stage planning and design through construction, commissioning coordination as applicable, and final closeout, ensuring alignment with client objectives, budgets, schedules, and quality expectations. Manage client and stakeholder relationships: Serve as a primary liaison among owners, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, city officials, and other project stakeholders, maintaining clear communication and strong working relationships. Oversee budgets and schedules: Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, schedules, and web-based project controls. Analyze financial and schedule impacts, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate procurement and contracts: Initiate and manage procurement for design, construction, and consulting services. Draft, review, negotiate, communicate, and administer contractual documents and related project agreements. Review design and technical documentation: Evaluate project requirements, program objectives, architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents to ensure alignment with owner expectations and project goals. Facilitate project coordination: Organize, lead, and document project meetings, ensuring stakeholders remain informed, decisions are tracked, and project activities stay coordinated. Manage construction progress and quality: Monitor contractor and vendor activities, observe and report on construction progress, and verify alignment with design specifications, schedules, and quality standards. Mitigate project risks and changes: Anticipate changes that could affect cost, timing, or quality; identify potential issues early; and develop practical recommendations to protect project objectives. Coordinate value engineering: Work with ownership teams and project stakeholders to evaluate alternatives, optimize project value, and support informed decision-making. Support contract administration and closeout: Coordinate contracts, purchase orders, progress payment documentation, and other administrative activities while managing project closeout to support successful completion. Contribute to business development: Participate in networking, proposal preparation, and client interviews to support the growth of project management services. Requirements Professional experience: At least 5 years of experience in project management, construction, real estate development, architecture, engineering, or a related field. Experience with data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, technology projects, or other technically complex developments is preferred. Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Urban Planning, or a related discipline. Data center knowledge: Familiarity with data center environments, mission-critical infrastructure, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, and the scheduling and coordination demands of data center construction is an advantage. Project controls expertise: Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, procurement activities, documentation, and project control systems. Design and construction knowledge: Strong understanding of design and construction processes, including architectural and engineering documentation, bidding, procurement, and contract administration. Stakeholder coordination: Experience coordinating architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, clients, and other project participants throughout the project lifecycle. Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to interpret project information, evaluate cost and schedule impacts, anticipate risks, and develop practical solutions to keep projects on track. Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate proactively and professionally with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Organization and prioritization: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, complex documentation, budgets, and schedules effectively. Leadership and accountability: Confidence in independently managing projects, building trusted client relationships, exercising sound business judgment, and taking ownership of decisions and outcomes.
