QA Automation (Selenium/Java)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Automation (Selenium/Java) based in the United States. As a QA Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in improving software quality by designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions for modern digital applications. You will leverage Java, Selenium, and Cucumber to build reusable test scripts that validate both user interfaces and APIs. Working closely with application engineers and QA professionals, you will transform manual testing processes into efficient, reliable automation workflows. You will also use SQL to validate data, troubleshoot issues, and strengthen test coverage across application functionality and business processes. Test Automation Development: Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using Java, Selenium, and Cucumber, extending existing automation frameworks to meet application testing requirements. Manual Test Automation: Convert existing manual test cases into reliable, reusable automated scripts to improve testing efficiency, reduce repetitive work, and accelerate software validation. UI & API Testing: Design and maintain automated tests for graphical user interfaces and APIs, ensuring comprehensive coverage of application functionality, integrations, and expected behaviors. SQL & Database Validation: Write and execute SQL queries to retrieve, validate, and troubleshoot database records in support of automated testing and data integrity checks. Test Coverage Expansion: Identify opportunities to automate additional scenarios, expand coverage across assigned applications, and contribute to incremental automation targets. Test Data Management: Create, organize, and maintain reusable test datasets to support efficient validation across regional processes, claims workflows, and other business-critical scenarios. Framework Maintenance & Reliability: Enhance existing automation frameworks, troubleshoot test failures, reduce flaky tests, and improve the stability, maintainability, and repeatability of automated test suites. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with QA automation colleagues, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand application requirements, investigate defects, and align testing strategies with development objectives. Emerging Automation Technologies: Apply knowledge of Playwright and JavaScript where appropriate to support evolving automation needs and broaden testing capabilities. AI-Enabled Productivity: Explore and adopt AI-powered tools and methodologies to streamline testing activities, improve problem-solving, and enhance engineering productivity. Software Development Lifecycle Support: Contribute to quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle, supporting reliable releases and continuous improvement of testing practices. Knowledge Sharing & Team Contribution: Share technical insights, communicate findings effectively, and support collaborative problem-solving, mentoring, and continuous learning within the engineering team. Requirements QA Automation Experience: Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated testing solutions for software applications. Java & Selenium: Strong practical knowledge of Java and Selenium for building, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts. Cucumber & Test Frameworks: Experience using Cucumber and working with existing automation frameworks to create reusable, maintainable test scenarios. UI & API Testing: Experience validating front-end applications and API functionality through automated testing approaches. SQL & Database Testing: Ability to write SQL queries, retrieve and validate data, troubleshoot discrepancies, and support database-related testing activities. Test Design & Coverage: Demonstrated ability to translate manual test cases into automated scripts, develop test scenarios, expand test coverage, and improve test reliability. Test Data Management: Experience preparing and maintaining test data to support repeatable validation and efficient execution of automated test suites. Playwright & JavaScript: Familiarity with Playwright and JavaScript is beneficial for supporting additional automation approaches and evolving technical requirements. Software Development Lifecycle: Understanding of the full software development lifecycle and the role of quality assurance in delivering reliable software. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to identifying defects, investigating test failures, and resolving technical issues. AI Tools & Emerging Technologies: Hands-on experience using AI tools to improve daily work, or a strong willingness to experiment with new technologies, learn rapidly, and encourage responsible AI adoption. A Claude Certified Developer or Claude Certified Architect credential is highly preferred; there may be an opportunity to obtain certification through the employer.
