Build the Future with AspenView Technology Partners

Full job description

Build the Future with AspenView Technology Partners At AspenView, we are passionate about transforming the way organizations approach technology. We specialize in creating high-performing, nearshore IT teams to help North American clients innovate faster and more efficiently. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for exceptional people to join our team and help drive impactful change across industries. About the Role AspenView is looking for a QA Specialist to join a dedicated nearshore team supporting a U.S. advisory firm that leads core banking conversions for community and regional banks and credit unions. After each mock conversion, you’ll answer one critical question: did every account, balance, rate, and transaction history arrive on the new core correctly, and will cards, online banking, ACH, and statements still work the Monday after go-live? Most of the work is SQL-driven data validation and functional testing. You’ll sit on the client’s conversion delivery team for one institution at a time, alongside a Scrum Master, business analysts, the institution’s conversion team, and the core vendor’s conversion analysts, reporting to the client-side conversion test lead or engagement lead. The work comes in waves: the two to three weeks after each mock conversion are intense, as every balance has to be explained, while the weeks in between focus on building test cases and regression. Most testing is data validation and manual testing in the vendor’s environment, with automation reserved for regression and post-conversion releases. This is a full-time, remote role for professionals based in Colombia or elsewhere in Latin America, working U.S. Eastern or Central business hours with full working-day overlap. System access runs through the institution’s VPN or VDI following background and identity checks. The natural growth path leads to Conversion Test Lead, or across into data migration. What You Will Do Test Planning & Strategy Build and own test plans for each conversion workstream (data validation, functional, integration, regression, and UAT support), mapped to the core vendor’s mock conversion schedule. Write UAT scripts the institution’s staff can follow and sign off, and build regression suites that remain valuable well beyond go-live. Data Validation & Reconciliation Perform post-mock data validation, reconciling record counts, balances, accrued interest, rates, maturity dates, holds, and transaction history between the legacy and target cores. Trace every data break back to the mapping rule that caused it and document findings clearly. Functional & Integration Testing Design test cases for the processing most likely to break during a conversion: deposit and loan servicing, end-of-day runs, interest accrual, fees, ACH and wire files, debit card authorizations, statements, and GL postings. Test the integrations re-pointed to the new core, including digital and mobile banking, card processing, bill pay, ATM network, loan origination, and CRM. Defect Management & Go-Live Readiness Triage defects with the core vendor, retest fixes, and report the defect trends that inform the go/no-go decision. Provide clear test recommendations to the institution, which signs off on results and makes the final go/no-go call. Support conversion weekend and day-one activities, which take place outside normal hours and are planned months in advance. What You Bring Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience 4+ years in software QA or systems testing, writing and owning test plans and test cases rather than only executing someone else’s. Hands-on data migration or integration testing experience: proving that what left system A arrived intact in system B and pinpointing the transformation that broke it when it didn’t. A track record of logging defects that hold up, with reproducible steps, defensible severity, and disciplined retesting. Ability to explain a defect clearly to a developer, a vendor analyst, and an operations manager who doesn’t read SQL. Professional English (B2 or above), strong enough to walk a U.S. bank’s operations team through a defect on a triage call and write the evidence they will sign off. Technical Expertise Strong SQL skills to independently validate data between two systems, including joins, aggregates, and root-causing mismatched counts or totals. Defect tracking and test workflow management in Jira, Azure DevOps, or an equivalent tool. Certifications ISTQB or CSTE certification is a plus. Nice to Have Core conversion project experience in the financial industry from any side: bank or credit union, core vendor, or consultancy. Hands-on experience with a U.S. core platform such as Fiserv (DNA, Premier, Signature), Jack Henry (SilverLake, Symitar, Core Director), FIS (IBS, Horizon), Corelation KeyStone, Temenos, or equivalent. Knowledge of the deposit and loan lifecycle, interest and fee calculations, end-of-day processing, and GL reconciliation. Payments testing experience: ACH and NACHA files, wires, card authorization and settlement, FedNow, or RTP. Familiarity with digital banking platforms such as Q2, Alkami, Banno, or NCR Digital Banking, and how they integrate with a core. Regression automation with Playwright or Selenium, API testing with Postman, or Python scripting for reconciliation. Advanced Excel for reconciliation (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query) or pandas. Experience with conversion test sign-off under FFIEC guidance and examiner scrutiny. Test management tools such as Zephyr, Xray, qTest, TestRail, or Azure Test Plans.
