Position Summary: Research Associate (Molecular) Responsible for processing patient samples for RNA and DNA extraction and perform downstream assays to include qPCR. Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to: Follows SOPs for scientific purposes with guidance Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve routine to moderately difficult problems by performing scientific functions in collaboration with others Isolation and cryopreservation of intact RNA, miRNA and DNA from clinical patient samples of all tissue and types Quantification and QC evaluation of nucleic acid samples including Agilent Tapestation, spectrophotometric assays (Nanodrop), Ribogreen and Picogreen assays Plans and conducts DNA and RNA purification projects at various scales and from different material types with supervision Performs QC analyses (RNA/DNA integrity analysis, Real-Time PCR) to ensure that results meet specifications with supervision Works on problems of routine to moderate scope in which the analysis of situation or data requires review of identifiable factors Exercises judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action. Assists with writing/developing new SOPs Assists with evaluation new technologies and beta testing Monitors assays and troubleshoots with help from supervisor Prepare all reagents used in lab Record and update information in Batch Records Build and perform first key of data collection sheets Perform equipment preventive maintenance Order and inspect lab supplies Carry out other duties/projects as assigned Qualifications: Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree (Biology, Chemistry or Life Sciences) with 2 years’ relevant laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience   Other Required: DNA RNA purification qPCR/qRT-PCR Molecular-based assays quantitation assays such as Ribogreen, Picogreen and spectrophotometric assessment Must be proficient using Microsoft office, specifically with Excel.  Familiar with Softmax Pro Requires good attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and willingness to work well in a group environment Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC) You will read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language   Preferred: Experience with multiple automated nucleic acid extraction platforms Use of at least one Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) QC of nucleic acid such as Agilent Tapestation or other protocols Any data provided as a part of this application will be stored in accordance with our  Privacy Policy.  For CA applicants, please also refer to our  CA Privacy Notice .
