Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Revenue Accounting Manager based in the United States. The Revenue Accounting Manager will oversee revenue recognition, financial reporting, and compliance to ensure accurate accounting practices across a growing software business. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with deep technical knowledge of ASC 606 and a strong analytical mindset. You will evaluate complex customer contracts, establish standalone selling price frameworks, and ensure revenue is accurately reported in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will support financial close activities, strengthen internal controls, and provide technical accounting guidance to senior leadership. You will also contribute to system integrations, product launches, and process improvements that enhance efficiency and scalability. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical accounting expertise with practical problem-solving in a technology-driven environment focused on supporting education.

Lead revenue recognition activities in accordance with ASC 606 and applicable Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Establish, maintain, and review annual Standalone Selling Price (SSP) frameworks to support accurate revenue allocation and recognition. Prepare and review quarterly revenue adjustments, including open-item calculations, and assess credit impacts and the need for credit reserves. Develop technical accounting white papers and establish or update revenue recognition policies as required. Review requests for proposals (RFPs) and customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue treatment and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Reconcile consolidated revenue between Oracle and the General Ledger monthly, investigating discrepancies and ensuring accurate reporting. Conduct analytical reviews and variance analyses to validate revenue completeness and accuracy. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes involving revenue accounting. Assist with external audits by preparing supporting documentation, analyses, and explanations. Establish, maintain, and enhance internal controls, audit processes, and end-to-end documentation of revenue workflows. Support the integration of newly acquired entities into established revenue accounting processes. Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new products and SKUs, ensuring production systems reflect validated configurations. Identify opportunities to automate revenue operations, streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and strengthen compliance. Provide senior management with clear assessments of accounting risks and the potential financial reporting implications of business decisions. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, with substantial exposure to revenue recognition. Strong technical accounting expertise and in-depth knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition requirements. Experience leading or supporting ASC 606 implementation projects. Demonstrated ability to assess complex contracts and determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment, including experience with SaaS-based revenue recognition and SSP methodologies. Experience with financial reporting, General Ledger reconciliations, period-end close processes, and audit support. Advanced computer skills and the ability to work effectively with accounting systems and financial data. Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to investigate variances and resolve complex accounting issues independently. Ability to evaluate accounting risks and communicate clear, actionable recommendations to senior management. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain technical accounting matters clearly. A proactive, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving, process improvement, and maintaining compliance in a changing business environment. Benefits Fully remote work arrangement for eligible team members located within the continental United States. Subsidized healthcare plans, including orthodontic coverage. Health Savings Account (HSA) option with employer matching contributions. Company-paid life and disability insurance, with additional voluntary coverage options available. Comprehensive paid time off, including flexible PTO for salaried employees. Paid parental leave, company holidays, and paid volunteer service time. Retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions and vesting each pay period. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for healthcare and dependent care expenses. Optional supplemental insurance and protection services, including accident, hospital, and critical illness coverage, identity theft and credit monitoring, and legal protection services.
