We're seeking exceptional talent to help develop, deploy, and support the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation at Amazon's scale. We're building revolutionary robotic systems that combine innovative AI, sophisticated control systems, and advanced mechanical design to create adaptable automation solutions capable of working safely alongside humans in dynamic environments. In this role, you will lead and support a team of engineering technicians and manufacturing associates in the Robot Repair Area. You will be fundamental in building the team from the ground up - partnering with the engineering team to develop and implement the repair process instructions, hiring the team members, and defining the repair space. You will be responsible for leading day to day repair operations in our greater Boston facility, and traveling to support field repair operations as needed. You are responsible for maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance. The successful candidate for this position will be a self-managing, action-oriented individual focused on developing and supporting a high performing team while delivering business results.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead day to day troubleshooting and repair operations
  • Partner with engineering to develop repair and troubleshooting process instructions, identify tooling needs, and influence SW and HW tooling design to support repair
  • Use technical experience to problem solve day to day and systemic issues
  • Support field repair operations as needed
  • Support, mentor, and motivate production teams.
  • Manage operations safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery expectations.
  • Manage staffing, grow and train / develop a team of high-performing associates and technicians, while promoting a culture of inclusion, innovation and performance.
  • Gather, trend and report process metrics/KPIs while promoting improvement initiatives from suppliers through factory.
  • Drive efficiency and quality through process-focused approaches, process improvement initiatives and root cause / corrective action exercises.
  • Build and manage team goals and critical metrics to ensure business success. Drive accountability with the team.
  • Conduct employee reviews, hiring, and all disciplinary functions for the reporting team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in engineering, management, or technology
  • Experience using strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • 6+ years of manufacturing or manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience directly managing teams
  • Can show strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS-Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Experience coaching and mentoring at the management level
  • Experience working in a fast-paced work environment
  • Proactive problem-solving ability and excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools such as: 5S 5Y FMEA PDCA Value Stream Mapping DMAIC Run Charts Pareto Analysis
  • Experience creating reports, interpreting metrics and driving overall insights or analysis
  • Experience supporting new products and product development programs.
  • Experience with robotics and/or automation
  • Experience working ERP, PLM, MES, and quality systems.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
