The Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships and equivalent university scholarships provide financial support to domestic postgraduate research students.

Preference

Preference may be given to applicants who:

  • identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as per University of Sydney policy,

  • intending to enrol or currently enrolled in a PhD,

  • have not previously received an Australian Government or University Scholarship to complete an HDR course at the same level,

  • have not previously completed an HDR course at the same level of study.

How to apply

To be considered for a RTP scholarship and equivalent University scholarships, you must:

Commencing Students

  • Apply for admission and submit all required documentation for admission to a higher degree by research through Sydney Courses by the deadlines outlined in the 'Application and award timeline' table – these differ for domestic students and international students.

  • Submit the scholarship application form by the deadlines.

Currently Enrolled Students

  • Be currently enrolled in a higher degree by research.

  • Submit the scholarship application form by the deadlines.
