Security Enablement Engineer
Full job description
Security Enablement Engineer The Team + The Role Pendo's Information Security team protects the data entrusted to Pendo and helps ensure our products are built with security and privacy by design. The team spans Security Operations, Product Security, Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), and Security Enablement. With thirteen team members supporting a broad security program, the team plays a critical role in protecting customer trust while enabling Pendo's business to grow. As a Security Enablement Engineer, you'll serve as the bridge between Information Security, our Go-To-Market (GTM) teams, and our customers. You'll own the resources, processes, and technical conversations that help Sales and Customer Engineering confidently address customer security questions, resolve deal blockers, and navigate security reviews. You'll use AI and automation to make security information more accessible, prioritize escalations that require deeper expertise, and protect the security team's capacity to advance its broader program. This role is well suited to a customer-facing technical professional who can communicate with engineers and executives alike, with the curiosity and ability to develop deeper cybersecurity expertise. This role is based in our Raleigh office. What this looks like day-to-day Security enablement and automation: Build and maintain resources that help GTM teams independently answer customer security questions and complete security questionnaires. Use AI and automation to make these workflows more efficient, accurate, and self-service wherever possible. Technical security support: Serve as the primary escalation point when Sales encounters security questions that cannot be resolved through existing resources. Research complex questions, coordinate with Information Security specialists when needed, and provide clear, timely responses that keep customer conversations moving. Request triage and prioritization: Evaluate incoming security requests based on deal stage, urgency, strategic importance, and risk. Set priorities, communicate turnaround expectations, and involve security teammates only when their expertise is required, protecting the team's broader program commitments. Customer-facing security conversations: Join pre-sales and customer calls alongside Sales and Customer Engineering to explain Pendo's security, privacy, and compliance posture. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, credible answers for both technical stakeholders and executive decision-makers. GTM training and enablement: Deliver regular enablement sessions that help customer-facing teams understand Pendo's security resources, documentation, and escalation processes. Equip teams to answer common questions independently and recognize when additional security expertise is needed. Strategic questionnaire escalations: Own escalations involving security questionnaires with significant urgency or strategic importance. Coordinate accurate, complete responses and engage the appropriate security stakeholders to address outstanding customer concerns. Deal blocker resolution: Investigate customer concerns involving security, integrations, deployment models, and data privacy. Work with internal stakeholders to resolve technical objections and escalate genuine product gaps to the CISO, Engineering, and Product leadership. Self-service knowledge management: Identify recurring customer questions and turn them into reusable answers, improved security documentation, and practical sales enablement materials. Continuously improve the answer library and training resources to reduce repetitive requests to the Information Security team. Cross-functional partnership: Partner with Sales, Customer Engineering, and Product to maintain consistent, accurate security messaging throughout the customer journey. Help customer-facing teams communicate Pendo's capabilities and security posture with confidence. Responsible AI adoption: Apply AI tools to accelerate questionnaire responses, documentation, and security enablement workflows. Validate the accuracy of AI-assisted outputs and ensure appropriate data handling before information is shared with customers. Who You Are Beyond the qualifications, we hire through a specific lens. These aren't buzzwords; they're the things we'll actually look for in how you talk about your work. You're a builder, not a maintainer. You're most energized when there isn't a clear path yet, and you get to define it. You don't wait for direction; you identify gaps, shape solutions, and drive them forward. At Pendo, great Security Enablement Engineers don't just follow instructions; they operate as strategic advisors, influencing decisions, guiding stakeholders, and elevating how we work. You're AI-curious - genuinely. You're not using AI tools occasionally. You're rewiring how you work around them. You're faster, sharper, and more prolific because of it, and you bring that energy to everything — how you approach your work, how you prep, how you communicate, how you think. We want someone who sees AI as a multiplier, not a shortcut. Must-haves 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, or Technical Consulting. Strong experience discussing enterprise SaaS technology with customers, including APIs, integrations, deployment models, and data governance. You can explain technical capabilities and address complex customer questions with confidence. Clear, effective communication skills with both technical and executive audiences. You can translate complex concepts into accessible explanations during live customer conversations and in written responses. Demonstrated ability to manage competing requests, assess priorities, and follow through on commitments independently. You can balance urgent customer needs with broader team objectives without requiring close supervision. Practical familiarity with common AI tools and experience applying them to workflows beyond basic information retrieval. Nice-to-haves Working knowledge of core cybersecurity concepts and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001, with the ability to engage credibly with customer security teams and a genuine interest in deepening your expertise. Direct experience completing security questionnaires or supporting customer security due diligence, trust, and assurance requests. A security certification such as CompTIA Security+, CCSK, CISSP, or CISA. Experience with GRC or trust management platforms such as Vanta, Drata, or Secureframe, or with security questionnaire automation tools. Pre-sales experience at an enterprise SaaS company, particularly working with security or IT buyers.
