Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and dynamic self-starter with strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners from diverse backgrounds, levels, and experiences. As a Senior Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include general accounting tasks such as preparing and entering journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, analysing financial statements, and handling various special projects assigned by management. Additionally, we are considering expanding the scope of responsibilities to include tax filing duties in the future.
Perform general accounting tasks as part of the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and analysing financial statements.
Prepare corporate income tax filings (including size-based tax), consumption tax, and business premises tax in collaboration with Tax firms.
Investigate account balance variances and assist the finance team in explaining differences between actual results and forecasts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business, FP&A, Tax, and Internal Audit.
Lead process improvements and contribute to projects that enhance scalability, efficiency, system design, and management reporting.
Review contracts and transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment.
Drive general process improvements and create documentation for all aspects of the accounting cycle.
Implement processes and document controls to ensure SOX compliant internal control environment.
Support year-end external audit activities and ongoing internal audits as necessary.
Manage special projects and other ad hoc assignments as required.
Collaborate with the BI team to develop insightful and effective reports.
Minimum 5–7 years of experience in financial accounting.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field is preferred.
Accounting qualifications are ideal (USCPA, JCPA, Bookkeeping Level 1 required; Bookkeeping Level 2 is a must).
Strong knowledge of J-GAAP, US GAAP/IFRS, and internal controls (SOX).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Japanese (JLPT N1 or higher).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a collaborative approach to resolving issues as part of a team.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a willingness to support and work cohesively with other team members.

Advanced skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets.
Experience with systems like Workday, OneStream, OneSource or AI tools (Gemini, Claude) is a plus.
Experience with system implementation and automation is highly desirable.
