Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Engineer – Incentive Compensation based in India. Join a mission-driven, technology-focused organization where reliable data systems play a critical role in supporting field teams and business operations. In this role, you will own the accuracy, automation, and continuous improvement of incentive and commission systems for agents and employees. You will transform complex business rules into scalable, auditable data pipelines that ensure incentive payments are accurate, fair, and delivered on time. Working at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, finance, and operations, you will proactively identify discrepancies, strengthen quality controls, and build automated monitoring solutions. You will collaborate closely with technical teams and business leaders to adapt incentive models across multiple business lines and countries. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented data professional who enjoys solving complex problems, improving operational efficiency, and using technology to support a growing business with meaningful social impact.
Own the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of incentive calculation pipelines, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all agent and staff incentive outputs. Lead the end-to-end automation of incentive processes, transitioning workflows from scheduled execution to event-driven processing wherever appropriate. Translate evolving business policies and incentive rules into reliable, automated, and auditable data workflows in collaboration with data engineering teams. Develop and maintain monitoring systems, automated alerts, and anomaly detection mechanisms to identify commission discrepancies before they affect payments. Establish robust quality assurance frameworks, validation processes, and reconciliation dashboards to ensure incentive calculations are accurate, traceable, and auditable. Design scalable data systems capable of supporting multiple business lines, including phones, inverters, and LPG, as well as operations across different countries, without increasing manual workload. Act as a key reviewer of incentive business logic changes, partnering with senior Sales and Finance stakeholders to translate new commission structures into clear, scalable technical requirements. Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Payroll, and field management teams to understand incentive program requirements and ensure data solutions reflect operational realities. Investigate complex data discrepancies, identify root causes, develop hypotheses, and drive issues through to resolution. Equip internal teams with reliable tools, reporting, and information to investigate and resolve incentive-related escalations from field agents. Document incentive logic, data workflows, validation procedures, and resolution processes to support transparency, auditability, and knowledge sharing. Share insights with technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicate data quality findings clearly, and contribute to stronger incentive data literacy across the organization. Requirements A bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline. At least three years of experience in data analytics engineering, business intelligence, incentive operations, or a related field. Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and validation. Working knowledge of Git, Bitbucket, and Apache Airflow concepts and usage for version control and workflow orchestration. Experience with business intelligence and data platforms such as Looker, Tableau, or Amazon Redshift, including the ability to translate business requirements into effective data models. Demonstrated ability to investigate complex data discrepancies, formulate hypotheses, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions. A strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation, validation, and process reliability, with a commitment to maintaining accurate and auditable financial or incentive-related outputs. Effective stakeholder management skills, including the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams, present findings to non-technical audiences, and manage expectations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical processes clearly and explain incentive calculations to field teams and other stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, personal accountability, and a structured approach to problem-solving and operational improvement. Adaptability and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with evolving priorities. Previous experience in incentive design, commission operations, or agent-facing programs is a strong advantage. An interest in mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge, and improving team capabilities in incentive data management and interpretation. Benefits Fully remote work: Work remotely from India. Permanent, full-time employment: An opportunity to build a long-term career in data engineering and incentive systems. Professional growth: Develop your expertise in data automation, analytics, incentive operations, and scalable data infrastructure within a rapidly expanding industry. Learning and development: Access to structured professional development opportunities designed to strengthen technical, leadership, and management capabilities. Collaborative culture: Work with enthusiastic colleagues in an open-minded, cross-functional environment that encourages innovation and shared learning. International exposure: Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple countries, cultures, and professional backgrounds. Purpose-driven impact: Contribute to a business focused on expanding access to affordable, reliable energy and other essential products through technology-enabled solutions.
