The Role
Full job description
The Role Coming on the heels of Madison Energy Infrastructure’s pledge to develop 1 GW / $2Bn of Community Infrastructure by 2028 , we are seeking to make a critical hire to lead and own partnerships with digital infrastructure customers and partners (Aggregators, Hyperscalers, Edge Data Centers, and other large power users in the digital space). This pivotal person will report directly to the Chief Development Officer and be responsible for securing the crucial partnerships and investment-grade offtake — at an acceptable price and term, for a specified volume — that will allow MEI to meet its ambitious Community Infrastructure goals. Working closely with Development, Origination, Commercial Analysis, Regulatory/Policy, Legal, and the MEI Executive Team, the Senior Director will own the evolution of partnerships and customer relationships from the first conversation, into memorandum of understanding and exclusivity, and into binding commercial agreements. This is a partnership-oriented role built on durable, high-trust relationships where s uccess is measured through executed term sheets and binding agreements that convert into megawatts under contract . As part of our Community Infrastructure announcement, we defined a new goal to Build Here, Benefit Here whereby we are attempting to partner with local communities, utilities, government agencies, etc. to listen to their concerns with power/data center development and develop our projects in ways that benefit local communities. This person will be critical in coordinating that story with the community benefits teams at Digital Infrastructure Companies and at times also acting as the face of our efforts in those local communities. This role is ideal for a self-directed commercial dealmaker who is comfortable working partnerships and attending conferences independently, can tactically and respectfully hold firm in customer/partner negotiation, and has keen sense of where to spend time and who to spend it with. Deep existing relationships within and understanding of the power demands of digital infrastructure is a must. Responsibilities Own the full partnership lifecycle with Digital Infrastructure customers (Aggregators, Hyperscalers, Edge Data Centers, and other large power users) — from first conversation through MOU/exclusivity to binding commercial agreements, including drafting, negotiating, and executing MOUs, LOIs, PPAs, and other investment-grade offtake documents. Structure deals that work for both sides: partner with Commercial Analysis, Legal, and Regulatory/Policy to ensure terms are financeable, legally sound, and feasible under evolving market structures, bringing in new deal structures where needed to support Community Infrastructure build-out. Lead community benefit coordination for Digital Infrastructure partnerships — working with partners' community benefit teams and serving as MEI's local representative to communities, utilities, and government agencies as part of the Build Here, Benefit Here commitment. Represent MEI externally at key industry conferences and bring market intelligence back to the internal strategy team — competitors, pricing, programs — to sharpen how MEI prioritizes and sizes digital infrastructure opportunities. Maintain accurate pipeline, counterparty, and deal-stage data in Salesforce as the system of record for this partnership portfolio. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree, with coursework or experience in business, economics, engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in business development/origination in distributed solar, storage, digital infrastructure or comparable infrastructure transactions, with demonstrated execution of binding transactions for dozens if not hundreds of MWs of power supply and/or power demand. Deep knowledge of and relationships in the digital infrastructure space, you should be able to distinguish what is a must-have vs. a nice-to-have in a data center power supply transaction. Preferred Experience in PJM markets, and familiarity with state distributed generation programs (Illinois, Maryland, Ohio, New York, Virginia). Familiarity with battery energy storage transactions. Knowledge of key ISO/RTO, State, and utility-level programs and regulations. Comfortable using artificial intelligence tools and capable of building agents to perform specific tasks. Fluency with Salesforce and deal-tracking tools. What We Value Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability Commercial lens on partnership cultivation Collaborative, cross-functional approach Intellectual rigor and attention to detail Genuine passion for advancing renewable energy and modernizing the U.S. grid Ability to operate amid competing direction from multiple senior stakeholders across the organization and prioritize based on business impact. Benefits PTO and company holidays Medical, dental, vision Employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance 401(k) and company match Professional development stipend Strong culture of collaboration, performance, and personal growth $175,000 - $225,000 a year The actual salary offered may vary depending on job-related factors including, but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience and location.
