Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Revenue based in the United States. We are seeking an accomplished revenue accounting leader to build and scale a specialized function supporting a rapidly growing technology business operating across complex hardware, manufacturing, and government contracting environments. In this high-impact role, you will oversee the global revenue lifecycle, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, strong financial controls, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. You will partner closely with Finance, Sales, Legal, Engineering, and Operations to structure commercial agreements and translate complex project activities into reliable financial reporting. You will also lead a high-performing team, guide mergers and acquisitions integration, and drive process automation across financial systems. This opportunity combines strategic leadership with deep technical accounting expertise in an innovative, fast-paced environment. The role can be performed onsite or in a hybrid arrangement in College Park, Maryland, with fully remote flexibility available for the right candidate.

Revenue Strategy and Policy: Serve as a senior technical advisor to Sales, Deal Desk, and Legal teams during contract negotiations, shaping commercial terms for technology products and manufacturing programs while ensuring alignment with ASC 606 and business objectives. Team Leadership and Development: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing revenue accounting team, including managers and senior managers, establishing organizational structure, hiring plans, performance expectations, and career development pathways. Complex Revenue Recognition: Own revenue recognition for complex, multi-year hardware builds and manufacturing arrangements, including percentage-of-completion accounting, cost-to-cost models, and estimate-at-completion reviews. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Legal, and Operations to ensure project milestones, manufacturing costs, and contract terms are accurately reflected in revenue recognition and financial reporting. Audit, SOX, and Governance: Lead engagement with external auditors on revenue accounting matters, prepare technical accounting memoranda and audit-ready documentation, and support executive leadership or Audit Committee reviews of significant revenue positions. Mergers and Acquisitions: Lead revenue-related due diligence for potential acquisitions and oversee post-acquisition integration of acquired contracts, revenue streams, processes, and systems into global accounting policies and procedures. Financial Systems and Automation: Collaborate with IT and Business Applications teams to optimize ERP and CRM infrastructure, particularly NetSuite, and implement automation that improves revenue recognition, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency. Revenue Forecasting and Analysis: Oversee project-level financial analysis, cost-to-cost modeling, and completion estimates to support accurate revenue forecasting and defensible accounting judgments. Accounting Policy and Compliance: Establish and maintain consistent revenue accounting policies, controls, and documentation that support business growth, public-company reporting obligations, and regulatory compliance. Strategic Business Partnership: Translate complex accounting standards into practical commercial guidance, helping leadership evaluate business decisions while balancing financial accuracy, risk management, and growth objectives. Requirements: At least 13 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including several years at the Director or Senior Director level leading a revenue accounting or technical accounting function within a publicly traded technology, aerospace and defense, or hardware manufacturing organization. Demonstrated success building and managing a multi-person revenue team, including experience leading managers and senior managers and scaling team capabilities as business needs evolve. Deep technical expertise in ASC 606, including multiple-element arrangements, point-in-time and over-time revenue recognition criteria, and cost-to-cost input methods for long-term manufacturing or hardware projects. Proven experience scaling revenue accounting operations, integrating acquired businesses, and automating manual accounting and reporting processes. Strong understanding of project-based revenue recognition, cost modeling, estimates at completion, and the analysis of complex commercial and manufacturing arrangements. Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders across Sales, Legal, Finance, and Operations, providing clear and actionable guidance on complex accounting matters. Experience managing external audits, developing technical accounting memoranda, maintaining SOX-ready documentation, and supporting governance or executive-level reviews. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required, along with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. An MBA or other advanced degree is an advantage. Prior Director-level or more senior experience at a leading semiconductor or computing component company, or a major government contractor, is preferred. Experience in Big Four public accounting, particularly in audit or technical accounting advisory, is desirable. Familiarity with quantum computing or other advanced technical fields, along with the curiosity and ability to understand complex technologies, is an advantage. Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and lead through business growth and change. Ability to travel up to approximately 10% as required. Must meet applicable U.S. work authorization and export-control eligibility requirements. Depending on the work performed, access to certain technologies or government contracts may require U.S. Person status or other required authorization under applicable regulations. Benefits: Competitive base salary: Approximately $220,000–$275,000 annually, depending on qualifications, experience, location, and internal equity. Performance-based compensation: Additional bonus and equity opportunities as part of the total compensation package. Comprehensive healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options. Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with employer matching. Flexible time off: Unlimited paid time off and paid holidays. Family support: Parental and adoption leave. Additional coverage: Legal insurance and other benefit options. Home technology stipend: Financial support for eligible home technology needs. Flexible work arrangements: Onsite or hybrid work in College Park, Maryland, with a fully remote option available for the right candidate. Senior leadership opportunity: The chance to build and shape a growing revenue function while working across complex commercial agreements, manufacturing programs, and strategic transactions. Innovative technology environment: The opportunity to contribute to the development and expansion of advanced computing platforms with applications across multiple industries.
