Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Engineer, Fullstack – Growth based in Canada. Join a remote-first engineering team building innovative infrastructure that simplifies global payments and helps businesses optimize their payment operations. As a Senior Fullstack Engineer focused on Growth, you will lead the frontend architecture and technical direction of the self-service onboarding experience, helping merchants move from account creation to their first live payment. You will play a key role in shaping a newly established product area, with significant autonomy over technical decisions and engineering standards. Working closely with Design and Product, you will turn complex requirements into intuitive, high-quality user experiences. You will also mentor engineers, establish best practices, and contribute to backend development when needed. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative, globally distributed environment where initiative and technical leadership are highly valued.
In this role, you will take ownership of the frontend experience and help shape the technical foundations of the Growth team while collaborating across disciplines to deliver effective onboarding solutions. Lead frontend architecture and technical direction for the self-service onboarding journey and platform experience. Spend approximately 80% of your hands-on development time on frontend engineering and 20% on backend development, adapting as priorities evolve. Collaborate closely with Design to take onboarding and platform concepts from initial ideas through production, ensuring a smooth and intuitive merchant experience. Mentor engineers and support the development of frontend skills, engineering judgment, and code quality across the team. Establish frontend conventions, architecture review practices, testing strategies, and quality standards for a growing engineering team. Contribute to the Python backend when necessary to unblock frontend work or deliver end-to-end features. Exercise independent technical judgment, challenge product or design decisions when appropriate, and help define the team's engineering practices in an evolving environment. Contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high-quality product development. Requirements: The ideal candidate brings strong frontend engineering expertise, proven technical leadership, and the confidence to shape architecture and engineering standards in a team that is still taking form. You should be comfortable working autonomously, mentoring others, and contributing beyond your primary area of expertise. Demonstrated experience architecting and building complex frontend applications in production environments. Strong frontend engineering skills, including the ability to make sound architectural decisions rather than simply implementing existing design systems. Confidence acting as the most senior frontend technical voice on a team, including constructively challenging product and design decisions when technical considerations require it. Some backend development experience and a genuine willingness to work with Python codebases; deep Python expertise is not required. Experience mentoring other engineers, ideally including early-career team members. Ability to work independently, establish appropriate technical standards, and make decisions without relying on extensive guidance. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with Design, Product, and Engineering colleagues. Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity, particularly in a newly formed team where processes and tools are still evolving. Nice to have: Experience building or integrating payment products. Experience working on growth-oriented product experiences, particularly merchant onboarding, activation, or self-service journeys. Benefits: Fully remote work in a globally distributed environment. Competitive share options. Flexible annual leave, with a minimum of 25 days to be taken. Access to coworking spaces across major cities. Company workations and an annual company retreat. High-quality equipment suited to your role. £500 contribution toward your home office setup. Generous learning and professional development budget. Private medical insurance. Additional benefits and perks depending on location. A collaborative, supportive environment with onboarding designed to help employees succeed. The opportunity to influence technical direction and engineering standards in a growing team.
