Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Financial Insights Analyst based in Canada. The Senior Financial Insights Analyst will play a key role in strengthening financial performance through data-driven analysis and strategic problem-solving. This position focuses on identifying and addressing profit and loss (P&L) discrepancies, improving invoicing accuracy, and protecting revenue across a complex marketplace ecosystem. You will work with large datasets from multiple systems to uncover actionable insights and resolve financial challenges with retail partners. By leveraging advanced analytics, AI-powered tools, and automation, you will help develop proactive monitoring capabilities that detect issues before they impact business performance. The role offers significant visibility and the opportunity to collaborate with Finance, Sales, Account Management, and external stakeholders. You will thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first environment that values curiosity, ownership, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. This is an excellent opportunity to combine financial expertise and technical skills to drive measurable business outcomes in the evolving grocery technology and e-commerce landscape.

Analyze financial and transactional data to identify P&L leakage, uncover discrepancies, and implement solutions that improve financial performance and revenue accuracy. Investigate retailer invoice challenges, determine root causes, and collaborate with retail partners to resolve discrepancies and strengthen commercial relationships. Connect, transform, and analyze complex datasets across multiple systems using advanced SQL, Excel or Google Sheets, and Python to generate actionable financial insights. Develop, implement, and maintain AI-powered monitoring systems, automated alerts, and reporting tools to identify potential financial issues in real time. Build a comprehensive understanding of marketplace data, financial reporting capabilities, invoicing processes, and partner economics to support effective decision-making. Translate complex analytical findings into compelling, visually engaging presentations and recommendations using Google Slides or PowerPoint. Present insights and proposed solutions to internal leadership and external stakeholders, helping drive alignment and encourage timely action. Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams and retailer partners to improve financial processes and resolve operational challenges. Prioritize high-impact opportunities, break down ambiguous problems into manageable components, and develop efficient, high-quality approaches to resolution. Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, streamline workflows, and scale analytical processes through technology, automation, and continuous improvement. Requirements A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience. At least 5 years of experience in Strategic Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Management Consulting, supporting commercial deals or growth initiatives within technology, e-commerce, marketplaces, logistics, or retail. Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to structure, connect, and interpret large datasets from multiple systems to uncover meaningful business insights. Advanced SQL skills and experience writing complex queries to investigate financial performance and transactional data. Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and experience creating clear, visually compelling presentations using PowerPoint or Google Slides. Experience identifying key findings, developing persuasive narratives, and translating complex financial analysis into practical recommendations that encourage stakeholder action. Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, quickly identify the most important aspects of a problem, and prioritize analytical efforts based on potential business impact. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners. A proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven mindset, with the ability to work independently, learn quickly, and approach challenges with a collaborative, low-ego attitude. Preferred qualifications: At least 2 years of experience applying AI solutions to a business domain such as e-commerce, FinTech, or multi-sided marketplaces. Familiarity with marketplace economics, retailer or consumer packaged goods (CPG) partnerships, merchant point-of-sale (POS) data, or commercial partner relationships. Experience collaborating with Sales or Account Management teams on commercial agreements, deal terms, and partner economics. Previous experience in Investment Banking or Management Consulting, with exposure to complex financial analysis and strategic problem-solving. Benefits Competitive annual base salary: CAD $126,000–$133,000 for eligible candidates based in Canada. Equity compensation: Eligibility for an initial equity grant and potential annual refresh grants. Remote work flexibility: Work remotely from eligible Canadian provinces, including Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. Flexible work approach: A Flex First philosophy that supports flexibility in choosing where you work while maintaining team connection through in-person gatherings. Professional growth: Opportunities to develop expertise in financial analytics, AI-powered automation, marketplace economics, and strategic decision-making. Meaningful impact: The opportunity to influence financial performance, improve operational processes, and strengthen relationships with retail partners. Inclusive work environment: Join a collaborative team that values diverse perspectives, continuous learning, and equitable opportunities.
