Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Lead Electrical Engineer based in the United States. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned electrical engineering professional to lead complex design projects supporting hyperscale data centers and mission-critical infrastructure. In this senior leadership role, you will oversee the full electrical engineering lifecycle, from conceptual design and system architecture to construction documentation and project closeout. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, clients, and organizational leadership to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performance building systems. The position combines advanced technical expertise with project leadership, client relationship management, and team development. You will also champion digital innovation and AI-enabled tools to improve engineering workflows, quality assurance, and project efficiency. This fully remote opportunity offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States, with occasional domestic travel.
Lead advanced electrical engineering design activities for hyperscale data centers, commercial buildings, and other mission-critical facilities, covering the full project lifecycle from conceptual design through construction documentation. Design and oversee electrical distribution systems, power topologies, infrastructure layouts, and equipment selection and sizing, ensuring system reliability, scalability, and compliance with applicable codes. Direct project engineers in developing electrical construction drawings, technical specifications, sequences of operation, and other engineering deliverables using AutoCAD, Revit, and related design tools. Prepare and review electrical specifications, project proposals, scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts while maintaining control over project costs, timelines, and scope changes. Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews, including peer reviews of designs, drawings, specifications, and calculations for projects led by other engineers. Lead construction-phase engineering activities, including site assessments, existing-condition surveys, technical reporting, shop drawing and submittal reviews, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), change order evaluations, punch lists, and project closeout documentation. Coordinate closely with project management teams and other stakeholders to ensure engineering deliverables meet client expectations, organizational standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and contribute to client program management, business development, and marketing activities where appropriate. Support technical research and the preparation of papers, presentations, and other materials for industry conferences and professional publications. Mentor engineers and other associates, support training and professional development, contribute to engineering standards and organizational policies, and assist with strategic planning and recruitment activities as needed. Identify and implement opportunities to use digital platforms, workflow automation, advanced analytics, data visualization, and AI-enabled tools to improve documentation, forecasting, reporting, quality control, and project management. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technology adoption aligns with data security, privacy, operational integrity, and engineering standards while promoting continuous improvement and innovation. Manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously, coordinate and delegate team responsibilities effectively, and deliver high-quality work within agreed schedules and budgets. Undertake additional related responsibilities as assigned and travel domestically as needed, including occasional visits to project sites, client meetings, and industry events. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. Professional Engineer (PE) license in a relevant discipline. At least 13 years of professional electrical engineering experience, with the advanced technical expertise and leadership capabilities required to manage complex projects and engineering teams. Advanced knowledge of building electrical systems, including single-phase and three-phase power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding, and life safety systems. Strong understanding of electrical distribution topologies, equipment selection and sizing, and applicable electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code, life safety codes, and energy conservation requirements. Experience with advanced electrical engineering calculations and technical studies, including short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, arc-flash studies, underground feeder calculations, lighting calculations, and equipment sizing. Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit for producing engineering drawings, layouts, and technical visualizations. Experience developing and reviewing construction documents, technical specifications, engineering calculations, and code compliance analyses. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, plan and delegate work, manage resources, and oversee projects involving complex technical requirements, budgets, and deadlines. Strong client-facing skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences and serve as a primary client contact. Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams, along with effective digital file and document management practices. Ability to work independently in a remote environment, demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, resourcefulness, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with digital engineering platforms, workflow automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools is beneficial, particularly where these technologies can improve design quality, efficiency, and project controls. Commitment to applicable workplace and project-site safety requirements, professional standards, and continuous improvement. Willingness to travel up to 10% within the United States, potentially to any of the 50 states, for project visits, client meetings, business development activities, and industry events. Benefits: Competitive annual salary: $148,000–$200,000, depending on qualifications, experience, skills, and work location. Remote work flexibility: Work virtually from anywhere in the United States, with occasional domestic travel. Comprehensive healthcare: Choice of medical plans, including two PPO-style options and a high-deductible health plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA) option. Dental and vision coverage: Comprehensive plans for eligible employees and their spouses or domestic partners and dependent children up to age 26. Flexible spending accounts: Access to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for eligible healthcare and other expenses. Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with employer matching and an optional self-directed brokerage account. Paid time off: PTO, including additional paid time off during the final week of the year.
