The Senior Manager, Finance will play a critical role in external financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls within a growing biopharmaceutical organization. This position will lead key activities across quarterly and annual reporting cycles, ensuring financial statements and regulatory filings are accurate, transparent, and compliant with applicable standards. You will research complex accounting matters, evaluate emerging regulations, and develop clear documentation to support sound financial decisions. Working closely with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, and internal and external audit partners, you will help strengthen reporting processes and maintain effective financial controls. The role offers an opportunity to apply deep technical expertise in a dynamic, highly regulated life sciences environment. This position is based at the organization's New York City headquarters and requires on-site work at least three days per week, specifically Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Prepare external financial statements and supporting disclosures, including statements of cash flows, footnotes, Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and supporting schedules for quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q and 10-K). Review XBRL reporting to help ensure the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of financial disclosures. Research, analyze, and document complex technical accounting matters involving non-routine transactions, including share-based compensation, debt and equity instruments, business combinations, asset acquisitions, licensing arrangements, and collaboration agreements. Monitor new accounting standards and SEC rulemaking, assess their applicability, document relevant conclusions, and lead implementation activities as needed. Support the design, enhancement, documentation, and testing of internal controls under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), ensuring effective compliance across assigned areas. Coordinate with internal audit service providers and external auditors on control testing, documentation, remediation, and reporting requirements. Draft new accounting policies and periodically review and update existing policies to reflect changes in accounting standards, regulations, and business activities. Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, and other stakeholders to support timely, accurate, and consistent financial reporting. Manage multiple reporting deliverables and technical accounting projects while meeting strict quarterly and annual filing deadlines. Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, strengthen controls, and enhance the quality and clarity of financial information. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification required. At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting with SEC reporting and technical accounting responsibilities. Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and SEC financial reporting requirements. Experience with SOX Section 404 compliance at a publicly traded company, including the design, documentation, and testing of business process controls. Strong technical accounting research skills, including the ability to interpret authoritative guidance, analyze complex transactions, and develop well-supported accounting conclusions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical accounting memoranda and explain complex matters to non-technical audiences. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain high standards of accuracy, and deliver against fixed external reporting deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, critical thinking, initiative, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Proficiency with accounting research tools such as Intelligize, Checkpoint, or FASB Accounting Standards Codification resources. Experience with financial reporting platforms such as DFIN Active Disclosure or Workiva is preferred. Experience in the biopharmaceutical or life sciences industry is preferred. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and financial close systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Excellent planning, organizational, execution, and follow-through skills, with strong attention to detail. Ability to work on-site at the New York City headquarters on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Fully remote arrangements are not available for this position. Benefits Salary: Anticipated annual base salary of $130,000–$150,000, depending on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and location. Annual bonus: Eligibility for an annual bonus. Equity compensation: Significant equity as part of the total compensation package. Benefits package: Comprehensive employment benefits. Potential role flexibility: The final job title and responsibilities may be adjusted based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
