Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Network Engineer based in the United States. We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support a major enterprise network transformation initiative for a large government organization. In this role, you will lead complex network migrations involving Juniper MX960 routers and the transition from MC-LAG to EVPN/VXLAN architectures. You will combine hands-on implementation with network architecture design to deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performing infrastructure. Working closely with network engineering teams, you will oversee critical production cutovers while minimizing service disruptions. This remote, 12-month contract offers the opportunity to contribute to a large-scale transformation project, with potential for extension. Quarterly travel to Philadelphia and occasional after-hours support are expected.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will lead enterprise network migration activities, validate advanced routing architectures, and ensure reliable implementation across production environments. Plan, prioritize, and execute enterprise-scale migrations involving Juniper MX960 routers. Design, validate, and implement EVPN/VXLAN architectures with multiple overlays to support scalability, performance, and redundancy. Collaborate with network engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and minimize disruption during migrations. Configure, test, deploy, and troubleshoot Junos OS across Juniper MX and EX platforms in production environments. Lead the transition from MC-LAG to EVPN, providing technical guidance on architecture, validation, testing, and troubleshooting. Develop and maintain detailed documentation covering network designs, migration plans, cutover strategies, and post-migration procedures. Serve as a subject matter expert in Juniper routing technologies, EVPN/VXLAN fabrics, and advanced routing protocols. Support after-hours cutovers and provide escalation assistance during critical network events. Requirements: The ideal candidate will bring extensive enterprise networking experience, strong expertise in Juniper technologies, and a proven ability to manage complex migrations in large-scale production environments. At least 7 years of experience as a Network Engineer in enterprise or large data center environments. At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Juniper MX and EX platforms. Strong knowledge of core routing protocols, particularly BGP and OSPF. Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Junos OS in production environments. Demonstrated experience with large-scale router replacement and network migration projects. Familiarity with EVPN architecture, deployment, and operational practices. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications: Juniper certifications such as JNCIP, JNCIE, or equivalent. Experience with network automation and scripting tools, including Python and Ansible. Knowledge of security best practices for routing and switching. Familiarity with enterprise change management and technical documentation processes. Benefits: Annual salary range of $110,000–$150,000. Remote work arrangement based in the Philadelphia area. 12-month contract with potential for extension. Medical, dental, and vision coverage. 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% employer match. Paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and public holidays. Opportunity to contribute to a major enterprise network transformation initiative. Quarterly travel to Philadelphia, with occasional after-hours support required.
