Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager based in Ireland. We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to shape the vision and strategy of innovative open-source smart home projects. In this role, you will oversee a combination of products across areas such as home automation, voice technology, music streaming, and connected devices. You will translate community feedback into meaningful product opportunities, guide initiatives from discovery through delivery, and collaborate closely with engineers, UX designers, and external partners. Working in a global, community-driven environment, you will balance strategic leadership with hands-on product execution. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for someone who values open collaboration, user privacy, and sustainable technology while helping build the future of the smart home.
Define and communicate the product vision and strategy for assigned projects, aligning long-term roadmaps with user needs, community feedback, and broader strategic objectives. Turn product opportunities and strategic priorities into actionable initiatives, collaborating with engineers and UX designers to deliver valuable features and improvements. Take an active role in day-to-day product development, coordinating priorities, managing projects, and supporting teams through iterative development and release cycles. Engage with the global open-source community through forums, Discord, GitHub, and other channels to gather feedback, understand user needs, and guide product decisions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and commercial partners to ensure product initiatives are aligned and successfully delivered. Coordinate external dependencies, including aligning hardware launches with relevant software features and ensuring a cohesive user experience. Work across a combination of projects in areas such as smart home automation, voice and assistant technology, music experiences, and open connectivity standards, depending on your expertise and interests. Communicate product direction, decisions, and progress clearly to diverse audiences, including contributors, partners, and the wider community. Requirements: At least 5 years of experience as a Product Manager, with a proven track record of delivering meaningful value to users. At least 3 years of experience defining product vision, shaping strategy, and developing roadmaps. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, make informed product decisions, and support iterative development and continuous releases. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, particularly UX designers and engineers, with hands-on project management skills to keep initiatives moving forward. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences and build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups. Confidence in public speaking and presenting ideas through workshops, meetups, livestreams, or similar community-facing activities. Professional fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Current residence in Europe and eligibility to work within Europe. A passion for smart homes, home automation, and open-source technology is a strong advantage. Experience using Home Assistant, ESPHome, Music Assistant, or related smart home projects is desirable. Curiosity, a willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for collaborating with a global community are highly valued. Benefits: Competitive compensation: The target total compensation package is designed around the 75th percentile for the role, seniority, and local market. The indicative annual compensation for the Netherlands is €71,000, with the final package depending on experience, qualifications, and working hours. Fully remote work: Work from your home country as a salaried employee, with no fixed daily schedule. Flexible working arrangements: Full-time employment at 40 hours per week, with an effort to maintain at least three hours of overlap with teammates during the workday. Paid time off: 25 days of paid annual leave. Sick leave support: 14 days of paid sick leave where local law would otherwise treat the relevant leave as unpaid. Parental leave: Six weeks of paid and six weeks of unpaid parental leave during the first year after a child's birth, with additional compensation provided where necessary to meet the stated paid-leave commitment. Work equipment budget: A budget to purchase the hardware needed for your role, with the option to keep the equipment for personal use after three years. Internet contribution: 50% reimbursement of your home workspace internet connection fee. Personal project time: One day every two weeks dedicated to working on personal projects.
