Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Operations Manager based in the United States. The Senior Product Operations Manager will establish the data infrastructure, reporting standards, and operating rhythms that enable a large B2B software portfolio to make better product decisions. This senior individual-contributor role will create a reliable, consistent view of product performance across more than 60 products. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Finance, Sales, and executive leadership, you will transform complex product, customer, and financial data into actionable insights. You will standardize metrics, strengthen analytics, and ensure strategic initiatives remain visible and on track. By improving reporting quality and cross-functional alignment, you will help leaders identify risks, prioritize investments, and make evidence-based decisions. This is an opportunity to shape Product Operations at scale through expertise, collaboration, and influence rather than direct people management.
As Senior Product Operations Manager, you will build and maintain the systems, standards, and processes that provide a consistent view of product health across the portfolio. Your responsibilities will include: Establish a single source of truth for product data: Define and document standardized metrics covering bookings, engagement, retention, churn, net and gross revenue retention, adoption, and overall product-line health. Maintain the product data dictionary: Create and manage a comprehensive catalog of metric definitions, formulas, data sources, and owners, resolving inconsistencies between teams. Set product instrumentation standards: Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering to ensure product usage is tracked and tagged consistently and that reporting data is reliable at its source. Build and maintain product-health dashboards: Develop reporting views by product, vertical, and across the entire portfolio to support Product Managers, executives, and the Chief Product Officer. Deliver actionable product analytics: Conduct cohort-based retention and churn analyses, distinguish booking-related issues from value-related issues, identify voluntary and involuntary churn patterns, and provide evidence-based recommendations to the appropriate product teams. Analyze win/loss data: Identify the factors influencing customer decisions and translate findings into insights that inform product roadmaps and investment priorities. Support product financial performance analysis: Partner with Finance to develop consistent product-line profit-and-loss, margin, and unit-economics reporting, identifying healthy products, emerging risks, and opportunities for investment or consolidation. Translate complex data into clear recommendations: Combine usage, retention, win/loss, and financial insights into concise written analyses that help leaders determine the appropriate next steps. Own the product planning and review cadence: Coordinate weekly, monthly, and quarterly operating processes, including calendars, templates, pre-reads, follow-ups, and accountability mechanisms. Monitor strategic initiatives: Establish a consistent reporting process for major cross-functional initiatives, consolidating progress, risks, blockers, and dependencies into a reliable view for leadership. Identify emerging risks early: Build mechanisms that highlight performance issues and execution delays early enough for leadership to intervene. Manage product tooling and standards: Oversee the selection, administration, access, and usage standards of product roadmapping, analytics, feedback, and research tools. Enable consistent practices across teams: Collaborate with vertical leadership to develop lightweight playbooks, establish common standards, and onboard Product Managers to the tools and definitions you introduce. Drive outcomes through influence: Coordinate and mentor contributors on specific projects when needed, while leaving product strategy, prioritization, roadmap ownership, and discovery decisions with the individual Product Managers. Requirements: The ideal candidate combines senior-level product operations or analytics experience with strong technical data skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a complex organization. You should be comfortable independently solving ambiguous, cross-functional problems and turning analysis into decisions. Required qualifications include: Professional experience: At least 8 years in Product Operations, product or business analytics, strategy and operations, business operations, or management consulting, ideally within or adjacent to a B2B software or SaaS organization. Candidates with a master's degree may qualify with 6+ years of experience, or equivalent experience. Hands-on data expertise: Proficiency in SQL, a business intelligence tool such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or Metabase, and a product analytics platform such as Pendo, Amplitude, or Mixpanel. Reporting and measurement systems: Demonstrated experience building reporting systems, defining standardized metrics, or establishing operating cadences that teams adopt and continue to use. Complex problem-solving: Experience operating as a senior individual contributor across multiple product lines or business verticals, independently selecting analytical methods, approaches, and evaluation criteria. Executive communication: Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into concise, clear, decision-ready narratives for senior stakeholders. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. Cross-functional collaboration: Ability to build alignment across Product Management, Engineering, Finance, Product Marketing, Sales, and leadership without relying on direct managerial authority. Preferred qualifications include: Experience establishing a Product Operations or product analytics function from the ground up. A proven ability to lead programs and deliver outcomes as a senior individual contributor without direct reports. Familiarity with ERP, accounting, or finance software and the workflows customers use. Experience partnering with Finance on product-line profit-and-loss analysis, margins, or unit economics. Exposure to AI-native product development and the analytics and reporting practices that support it. Benefits: Remote work opportunity within the United States. Senior individual-contributor role with broad exposure to product strategy, portfolio performance, and executive decision-making. Opportunity to shape Product Operations standards, analytics infrastructure, and operating processes across a portfolio of more than 60 products. Cross-functional collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, Finance, Product Marketing, Sales, and senior leadership. Opportunity to influence strategic decisions and business outcomes through data-driven insights, without direct people-management responsibilities.
