Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Property Underwriter, Programs and Reinsurance based in the United States. As a Senior Property Underwriter, you will play a key role in evaluating, pricing, and underwriting complex commercial property risks across individual accounts and program business. You will contribute to the growth of an expanding property and reinsurance portfolio while balancing profitability, risk exposure, and strategic business objectives. Your expertise in catastrophe-exposed property will help shape sound underwriting decisions and ensure appropriate pricing for complex risk profiles. You will collaborate with leading reinsurance brokers and internal specialists to assess assumed and ceded treaty opportunities. Working closely with senior leadership, you will provide technical insights and recommendations that support portfolio performance and business growth. This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to apply your underwriting expertise in a dynamic, globally focused risk services environment. You will join a team that values initiative, professional development, analytical excellence, and a results-oriented approach to managing risk.

Evaluate, select, price, and underwrite commercial property risks, including individual accounts and program business, in accordance with underwriting guidelines and business objectives. Analyze complex property exposures, including catastrophe-prone risks, to determine appropriate coverage terms, pricing, deductibles, limits, and risk acceptance decisions. Develop and maintain a profitable property underwriting portfolio by balancing risk selection, premium adequacy, exposure management, and growth opportunities. Assess program business opportunities, evaluating their structure, underwriting performance, risk characteristics, and potential contribution to overall portfolio profitability. Support reinsurance activities involving both assumed and ceded treaties, analyzing treaty structures, exposure profiles, pricing considerations, and associated risks. Collaborate with leading reinsurance brokers and other industry partners to evaluate opportunities, exchange technical information, and develop appropriate underwriting solutions. Prepare underwriting analyses and recommendations for senior leadership to support strategic decisions, portfolio optimization, and business expansion. Monitor market conditions, catastrophe exposures, industry developments, and emerging risk trends to inform underwriting strategies and pricing decisions. Apply sound technical judgment and analytical expertise to identify potential portfolio vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures. Work collaboratively with internal underwriting, actuarial, and reinsurance teams to ensure consistent risk assessment, effective decision-making, and alignment with organizational goals. Requirements: At least seven years of professional experience in property underwriting, with a strong understanding of commercial property risk assessment and portfolio management. Demonstrated experience underwriting both individual commercial property risks and program business. Proven experience pricing catastrophe-exposed property, including the ability to evaluate exposure severity, potential losses, and appropriate underwriting terms. A bachelor's degree is required. Strong technical underwriting skills, including risk selection, pricing analysis, coverage evaluation, and assessment of property exposure. Familiarity with reinsurance concepts, including assumed and ceded treaty arrangements, is valuable for supporting the role's reinsurance responsibilities. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to evaluate complex risks, interpret relevant data, and develop commercially sound underwriting recommendations. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, particularly when working with reinsurance brokers, internal stakeholders, and senior leadership. Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance portfolio growth, profitability, and risk management objectives. A proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven approach, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment. Adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning, technical excellence, and professional development. Benefits: Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance fully paid by the employer for employees. Retirement savings: A 401(k) plan featuring immediate 100% vesting and a 4% company match. Paid time off: Paid vacation and holidays to support personal well-being and work-life balance. Tuition reimbursement: Financial support for eligible educational expenses and continued professional development. Fitness reimbursement: Support for eligible fitness-related expenses and healthy lifestyle initiatives. Additional quality-of-life benefits: A range of supplementary programs designed to enhance employee well-being and overall benefits. Remote work flexibility: The opportunity to work remotely while contributing to a growing property underwriting and reinsurance business.
