Full job description
Teleo, a Havoc company, is a robotics company that transforms construction heavy equipment, including loaders, dozers, excavators, and trucks, into autonomous robots for commercial and defense applications. Our technology enables a single operator to supervise and control multiple machines simultaneously, delivering significant productivity gains while improving operator safety and comfort. Teleo was founded by a team of experienced technology leaders who previously led the development of Lyft's Self-Driving Car program and Google Street View. Teleo recently announced its merger with Havoc AI, a fast-growing defense technology company developing coordinated fleets of autonomous maritime vessels. This is a unique opportunity to join a team building technology with real-world impact. You will work on cutting-edge 100,000-pound autonomous robots and engineer complex systems at the intersection of hardware, software, robotics, and AI.
Mission Own the integration of Teleo's autonomy and vehicle subsystems into a reliable, cohesive platform. Bridge the gap between independently developed components — perception, controls, networking, hardware interfaces — and make them work together on real hardware.
Develop features across the full vehicle software stack: sensor interfaces, communication layers, diagnostics, and system services Integrate and validate subsystems from multiple teams into a unified, working platform Build and maintain backend infrastructure and tooling that support vehicle operations Design and implement inter-process and inter-system communication for vehicle and operator systems Contribute to OTA update pipelines and deployment workflows in collaboration with the full-stack team Write unit tests and help establish integration testing practices across the codebase Participate in remote support rotations, including occasional early/late hours
B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. 4+ years of professional software engineering in C/C++ and Python Strong computer systems fundamentals: OS internals, memory management, process lifecycle, IPC Hands-on embedded Linux experience at the application level Comfortable reading schematics and understanding hardware interfaces at a conceptual level Demonstrated ability to work across multiple subsystems and codebases Comfortable working on-site in Palo Alto, CA
Linux systems programming: sockets, serial, device interfaces, systemd, debugging tools CAN bus protocols and serial communication Building and integrating multi-process systems with complex inter-component dependencies Debugging at the system level: logs, traces, packet captures, core dumps Working in cross-functional environments alongside firmware, perception, and controls teams
ROS experience Networking fundamentals: VLANs, Layer 2/3 debugging, packet analysis Rust Experience bootstrapping test infrastructure: CI integration testing, hardware-in-the-loop setups Early-stage startup experience — comfortable with broad scope and fast iteration
