Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Sourcing Manager based in the United States, with a remote working arrangement. As Senior Sourcing Manager, you will lead carbon supply sourcing across the Americas, building strategic partnerships with project developers and securing high-integrity carbon credits that support meaningful climate action. You will define regional sourcing strategies, manage commercial negotiations, and develop a robust pipeline aligned with portfolio priorities and client demand. Combining deep carbon market expertise with strong commercial judgment, you will balance pricing, quality, risk, and long-term supply availability. You will collaborate with technical, due diligence, portfolio management, commercial, and legal teams to ensure effective execution from origination through contracting and delivery. Acting as a senior regional representative and deputy to sourcing leadership, you will also contribute to broader strategic initiatives and team development. This is an opportunity to influence the evolution of carbon markets while helping organizations accelerate their progress toward net-zero goals.

In this role, you will own regional sourcing strategy and commercial outcomes, strengthen relationships across the carbon project development ecosystem, and ensure that supply decisions support long-term business objectives. Your responsibilities will include: Americas Sourcing Strategy: Develop and execute the regional sourcing strategy, identifying priority markets, project types, and partnership models aligned with organizational supply priorities. Pipeline Development and Management: Build and maintain a high-quality, forward-looking pipeline of carbon supply opportunities, ensuring alignment with portfolio gaps, quality requirements, and client demand. Market Intelligence: Monitor carbon market developments, including methodologies, pricing, regulatory changes, Article 6 frameworks, and compliance markets, translating insights into sourcing strategies and commercial opportunities. Developer Relationship Management: Establish and maintain long-term relationships with project developers and ecosystem partners across the Americas, serving as a senior regional point of contact and trusted commercial partner. Deal Origination and Negotiation: Identify new supply opportunities and lead complex commercial negotiations through contract execution, balancing volume, pricing, quality, risk, and long-term access to supply. Industry Representation: Represent the sourcing function in discussions with developers, ecosystem partners, and relevant industry forums, strengthening regional relationships and market credibility. Governance and Process Improvement: Improve sourcing processes and coordinate with Supply Operations on deal approvals, contracting, onboarding, delivery tracking, and data quality. Reporting and Forecasting: Own regional pipeline reporting and supply forecasts, maintain accurate internal records, and identify delivery risks early to support proactive decision-making. Deputy Leadership: Deputize for the Primary Sourcing & A6 Solutions Director when required, contributing to leadership discussions, approvals, and team decisions. Cross-Regional Strategic Initiatives: Support broader sourcing priorities beyond the Americas, including other regions, project types, instruments, and cross-functional initiatives as business needs evolve. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead initiatives involving Technical, Due Diligence, Portfolio Management, Commercial, and Legal teams to ensure sourcing decisions are commercially sound and operationally achievable. Team Development: Coach and support colleagues within the sourcing team, share expertise, and demonstrate leadership aligned with organizational values. Requirements: The ideal candidate brings substantial commercial experience in carbon markets, strong relationships across relevant project development sectors, and the judgment needed to navigate complex transactions and evolving regulatory frameworks. You should be comfortable taking ownership of regional targets while collaborating with stakeholders across different functions and time zones. Key qualifications include: Senior Commercial Experience: Significant senior-level experience in carbon markets, with a strong track record in sourcing, business development, or commercial deal-making. Negotiation Expertise: Proven ability to lead complex commercial negotiations from initial engagement through contract closure, balancing commercial opportunity with risk and quality considerations. Pipeline and Portfolio Ownership: Demonstrated experience managing a region, pipeline, or portfolio against defined targets, including forecasting, reporting, and performance tracking. Sector Knowledge: Strong professional experience or networks across energy, agriculture, forestry, conservation, and/or natural resource management. Article 6 Expertise: Knowledge of the Article 6 framework and its role in international carbon markets. Carbon Credit Quality: Familiarity with carbon credit ratings, Core Carbon Principles (CCP) frameworks, and relevant quality benchmarks. Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders, both internally and externally. Commercial and Risk Judgment: Strong analytical and commercial decision-making skills, including the ability to evaluate trade-offs and make sound decisions under uncertainty. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to present clear, persuasive, executive-ready recommendations. Autonomy and Collaboration: Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with teams and partners across multiple time zones. Work Authorization: Must be legally eligible to work in the country of residence. Additional experience that would be advantageous includes: Previous work or residence in the Americas. An established network of carbon project developers and ecosystem partners across the region. Experience in fast-paced, high-growth organizations, particularly in project management or portfolio management.
