Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager based in Australia. This contract opportunity is ideal for a technically experienced professional who excels at coordinating complex engineering initiatives and improving delivery processes. You will support engineering leadership by overseeing work across central services, DevOps, and data teams in a real-money gaming environment. Your mission will be to bring clarity, structure, and accountability to engineering operations while ensuring priorities and releases remain aligned. You will combine software engineering expertise with program management, automation, and data-driven reporting to improve how teams collaborate. You will also lead a small team of contract engineers and help establish scalable workflows. By leveraging APIs, dashboards, and AI-powered tools, you will reduce manual coordination and increase visibility across the engineering landscape.
You will coordinate cross-functional engineering delivery, improve operational efficiency, and ensure teams have clear priorities, ownership, and visibility into progress. Manage intake and triage for central services, DevOps, and data teams, determining request ownership, priorities, and delivery timelines. Maintain a consolidated view of ongoing initiatives to coordinate parallel work, prevent conflicts, and protect delivery outcomes. Track releases and communicate what has shipped, what is rolling out, and what is blocked, providing clear explanations of delivery decisions. Identify stalled initiatives, resolve bottlenecks, and proactively address issues that could affect delivery. Lead a small team of contract engineers working across central services and data, including setting priorities, conducting one-on-one meetings, and providing performance feedback. Automate operational workflows by integrating systems through APIs, connecting tools, and reducing manual status tracking. Develop consolidated dashboards that provide visibility into applications, infrastructure, data systems, and release progress, bringing together information from multiple sources. Integrate AI tools into engineering workflows to improve productivity, coordination, and decision-making. Oversee core delivery practices, including planning, commitments, retrospectives, release ownership, and accountability. Requirements: You should bring a strong technical foundation, practical delivery leadership experience, and a proactive approach to automation. The ideal candidate can engage with engineers as a technical peer while keeping projects organized, stakeholders informed, and teams focused on the right priorities. Professional software development experience, with a subsequent focus on technical program management or delivery coordination. Ability to read code, write scripts, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams; no specific programming language is required. Demonstrated ability to automate workflows, call APIs, integrate tools, and build reporting solutions independently. Practical experience using AI tools extensively, with sound judgment about their strengths, limitations, and appropriate applications. Experience managing delivery or release reporting for a team that ships software regularly. Previous experience leading engineers or a small technical team, including setting priorities and supporting team performance. Strong prioritization skills and the ability to distinguish genuine urgency from competing demands. Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to document decisions and communicate progress clearly. A calm, dependable leadership style that encourages early communication and proactive problem-solving. Nice to Have: Experience with live-service products, real-money gaming, or regulated products. Familiarity with mobile release management, including Apple App Store and Google Play processes. Experience administering Jira or Confluence. Knowledge of incident response and on-call practices. Experience with AWS or another cloud platform. Benefits: Contract-based engagement. Opportunity to work across central services, DevOps, data, and engineering operations. Hands-on ownership of automation, reporting, and delivery improvement initiatives. Opportunity to lead a small team of contract engineers. Exposure to AI-enabled engineering workflows and a complex, real-money gaming technology environment. Compensation, healthcare, paid leave, and other benefits are not specified in the provided job description.
