Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research to understand user behaviors, needs, motivations, challenges, and expectations. Conduct usability testing, user interviews, surveys, field studies, and other appropriate research methods to address product and user experience questions. Translate complex research findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that can inform product decisions. Partner closely with UX designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to influence product direction, priorities, and strategy. Advocate for user-centered design principles and evidence-based UX research practices across cross-functional teams. Synthesize research findings into structured deliverables such as research reports, personas, journey maps, frameworks, and other research artifacts. Identify patterns and opportunities across complex problem spaces and communicate findings through compelling research storytelling. Advocate for accessibility, inclusivity, and equitable access to information throughout research planning, execution, and recommendations. Contribute research expertise to product strategy and help teams make informed decisions based on user evidence. Requirements: Bring at least 5 years of experience in UX research, human-computer interaction, or a closely related field. Demonstrate strong expertise in both qualitative and quantitative user research methods. Have experience transforming ambiguous or complex problem spaces into focused research questions and clear research direction. Demonstrate experience working within cross-functional product teams alongside UX, product, design, and other stakeholders. Possess excellent written, verbal, communication, presentation, and storytelling skills. Have a diverse research portfolio demonstrating meaningful impact across complex products, users, or problem spaces. Demonstrate the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. An advanced degree such as a Master's or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Library and Information Science, Psychology, Education, or a related field is preferred. Experience conducting research with academic, library, scholarly, or higher education audiences is preferred. Knowledge of information-seeking behavior, metadata, search relevance, or research evaluation practices is preferred. Experience working with institutional stakeholders such as universities, research organizations, or consortia is preferred. Be able to advocate for user needs and communicate research implications effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Be based in the United States, excluding U.S. territories. Benefits: Annual salary range of $104,030–$148,615 USD. Remote work for U.S.-based employees, excluding U.S. territories. Fully remote arrangement for employees living outside the designated 30-mile radius of the organization's hub offices. Flexible spending accounts. Retirement savings plan. Paid parental leave. Paid holidays and paid time off. Mentoring and professional development opportunities. Access to resources, tools, training, and support for career growth. Opportunity to work on products serving students, faculty, librarians, researchers, and higher education communities.
