Overview
Hong Kong's Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund is accepting 2027/28 applications for overseas postgraduate fellowships and undergraduate scholarships for eligible Hong Kong students pursuing study at institutions outside Hong Kong.
Complete scholarship details
The official 2027/28 application period runs from 22 June to 4 September 2026. Overseas fellowships support postgraduate study by research or coursework, with a maximum award of HK$300,000 per year and tenability up to three years for a doctorate or two years for a master's degree. Overseas undergraduate scholarships can provide up to HK$280,000 per year for up to three years. Award amounts may be adjusted based on university fees, necessary living expenses and other awards. Applications are submitted online through the official GovHK e-form, while applicants remain responsible for meeting the admission requirements of their chosen overseas institutions.
Eligibility requirements
The 2027/28 scheme has separate postgraduate fellowship and undergraduate scholarship tracks. The official fellowship rules require Hong Kong permanent residence, at least seven years of continuous full-time education in Hong Kong, relevant honours-degree qualifications and language proficiency; the undergraduate scholarship has its own current eligibility rules, including Hong Kong permanent residence and Hong Kong education requirements. Applicants should use the official 2027/28 information note for the exact track-specific conditions.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified against the Hong Kong Government press release, the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund/WFSFAA 2027/28 programme pages and the live official GovHK e-form. The form currently offers 'Start Filling in a New Form'. The official sources state a 4 September 2026 closing date but no closing clock time, so deadline is not timezone-normalised.
Job and Scholarship is the discovery and verification layer. Confirm eligibility, dates, salary/funding and application instructions on the original source before submitting anything.
