Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sound Designer & Editor based in India. Bring stories to life through powerful sound design, immersive audio, and professional mixing for engaging, high-impact digital content. In this role, you will shape the auditory experience of scripted dramas and narrative videos, enhancing their emotional depth, realism, and storytelling impact. You will work across the entire audio post-production process, from Foley recording and dialogue cleanup to final mixing, mastering, and quality control. Collaborating with editors, directors, composers, and creative teams, you will translate artistic visions into polished audio experiences. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced audio professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment and balances creative instincts with technical precision. As a remote contractor, you will contribute to a growing content operation while helping maintain consistent audio quality across multiple projects and distribution platforms.

Design and implement compelling sound effects, including ambience, hard effects, and creative audio elements, to strengthen the emotional impact and realism of narrative content. Record, edit, and synchronize Foley sounds with on-screen action, ensuring natural, detailed, and seamless integration. Clean and edit dialogue tracks by removing unwanted background noise, improving speech clarity, and maintaining consistent audio quality across scenes. Collaborate with editors, directors, composers, and other creative professionals to understand project requirements and translate creative direction into effective sound design. Perform final audio mixing by balancing dialogue, music, sound effects, and Foley to deliver cohesive, polished, and professional results. Ensure audio mixes comply with relevant loudness standards and technical specifications for different distribution platforms, as required. Conduct quality control checks to verify audio synchronization, consistency, technical accuracy, and freedom from errors before delivery. Organize, manage, and archive audio assets, session files, and project materials to support efficient collaboration, revisions, and future access. Troubleshoot technical issues involving audio software, hardware, file formats, and post-production workflows. Track and report departmental metrics, including mixing volume and recurring technical challenges, to support operational planning and workflow improvements. Stay current with industry developments, audio technologies, plugins, and best practices to continuously improve sound quality and production efficiency. Work collaboratively with the post-production and creative teams as an individual contributor, reporting to the Head of Post-production. Requirements A minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience as a Sound Designer, Audio Mixer, or in a comparable audio post-production role. Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume content production environment, preferably involving scripted dramas or other narrative formats. A bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Film, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Expert-level proficiency with a digital audio workstation (DAW), such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, or Adobe Audition. Strong understanding of audio signal flow, acoustics, sound design principles, Foley techniques, and professional mixing workflows. Proficiency with industry-standard audio plugins and tools for equalization (EQ), compression, noise reduction, reverb, and related audio processing tasks. Experience cleaning, editing, synchronizing, mixing, and mastering audio for professional content delivery. Familiarity with relevant loudness standards, technical delivery specifications, and audio quality control practices. Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly when managing multiple audio sessions and project assets. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain creative ideas and technical concepts clearly. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing tasks, and meet tight production deadlines without compromising quality. A proactive, resourceful approach to troubleshooting, with a strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement. A genuine passion for storytelling and the ability to use sound to enhance emotion, atmosphere, realism, and audience engagement. Preferred qualifications: Experience with advanced audio restoration and noise reduction software, such as iZotope RX. Familiarity with spatial audio formats, including Dolby Atmos. A portfolio or showreel demonstrating sound design, dialogue editing, Foley, mixing, or other relevant audio post-production work. Benefits Competitive contract compensation: Indicative rates of $10–$17 per hour for Asia-based candidates, depending on experience and qualifications. Remote work flexibility: Work remotely from India, with a distributed working environment spanning multiple global regions. Health insurance: Health coverage included as part of the stated benefits package, subject to applicable eligibility and contract terms. Paid time off: Time-off benefits, subject to applicable policies and contractor arrangements. Creative collaboration: Opportunities to work alongside experienced creative and post-production professionals on engaging narrative projects. Professional development: Exposure to evolving audio production technologies, creative workflows, and industry best practices. High-impact projects: The opportunity to contribute directly to the emotional quality, realism, and polish of digital storytelling content. Independent contributor role: Take ownership of audio deliverables while collaborating closely with creative and technical teams.
