This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Accountant II – Inventory based in the United States. The Senior Accountant II – Inventory will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting and inventory accounting across multiple business units. This position focuses on inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, obsolete inventory, and reserve modeling within a dynamic, multinational environment. You will oversee essential month-end and quarter-end closing activities, conduct detailed financial analyses, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Working closely with finance teams and business stakeholders, you will help strengthen reporting accuracy and support informed financial decision-making. The role also involves reviewing accounting deliverables, supporting audit activities, and identifying opportunities to improve processes. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who combines strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.

Manage advanced accounting activities and financial analyses supporting monthly and quarterly reporting for U.S. business units, with a particular focus on finished goods inventory, inventory obsolescence, cost of goods sold (COGS), and reserve models. Execute month-end and quarter-end closing procedures, including preparing and posting journal entries, monitoring subledger interfaces, and ensuring timely completion of accounting deliverables. Analyze inventory balances, valuation adjustments, and reserve calculations to maintain accurate financial records and support reliable reporting. Perform accounting and financial analyses related to artist and copyright royalty expenses, ensuring associated royalty assets and liabilities are accurately recorded and presented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Review accounting tasks and journal entries prepared by staff, ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with established procedures. Conduct financial variance and flux analyses to identify significant changes, investigate discrepancies, and communicate relevant findings to stakeholders. Ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, internal accounting controls, and applicable financial reporting policies. Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for internal and external audits, responding to requests and helping ensure the availability and accuracy of financial evidence. Collaborate with domestic and international affiliates, business units, and cross-functional finance teams to resolve accounting issues and maintain consistent reporting practices. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve reporting efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the quality of financial information. Support additional cross-functional and departmental responsibilities as business needs evolve, contributing to the effectiveness of the broader accounting operations function. Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional experience: Five to six years of experience in corporate accounting, shared services accounting, or a comparable financial reporting environment. Inventory accounting expertise: Strong understanding of inventory accounting, finished goods valuation, inventory obsolescence, cost of goods sold, and reserve calculations. Financial reporting and close processes: Demonstrated experience with month-end and quarter-end closing activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and reporting deliverables. Accounting standards and compliance: Knowledge of GAAP and experience working within a SOX-controlled environment, including maintaining internal controls and supporting compliance requirements. Audit experience: Familiarity with internal and external audits, including preparing documentation, validating accounting records, and responding to audit inquiries. Financial analysis: Ability to conduct variance and flux analyses, investigate discrepancies, interpret financial data, and communicate meaningful insights to stakeholders. Systems proficiency: Experience with SAP is preferred, along with the ability to work effectively with accounting systems, subledger interfaces, and financial reporting tools. Additional technical knowledge: Experience with SEC reporting and shared services operations is advantageous. Familiarity with royalty accounting, the music industry, or direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-commerce is also a plus. Analytical and problem-solving skills: Strong critical-thinking abilities, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to resolving complex accounting issues and improving existing processes. Attention to detail: High standards of accuracy, organization, documentation, and quality control when handling financial data and accounting deliverables. Time management: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict reporting deadlines, and maintain consistent performance in a fast-paced environment. Communication and collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships across finance teams, business units, and international stakeholders. Autonomy and initiative: A self-motivated working style, with the ability to operate independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and contribute strategically within a team environment.
