Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Automation Engineer, Falcon Complete based in Canada. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing cybersecurity operations through intelligent automation, scalable software engineering, and AI-powered threat response. You will design and deliver sophisticated automation workflows that help security analysts detect, investigate, and remediate threats faster and more effectively. Working within a globally distributed Managed Detection and Response (MDR) team, you will collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity experts, and cross-functional stakeholders to build reliable, high-performance solutions. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with opportunities to innovate in agentic AI systems and next-generation security technologies. You will influence architectural decisions, establish engineering best practices, and mentor fellow engineers while improving operational efficiency at scale. This remote opportunity is ideal for a technically experienced professional passionate about automation, continuous improvement, and protecting organizations against evolving cyber threats.

Lead the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of automation features and product enhancements that strengthen managed detection and response capabilities. Architect and build deterministic and agentic automation pipelines that integrate software services, scripting, orchestration, and security data enrichment across multiple tools and platforms. Analyze complex cybersecurity challenges and develop scalable, enterprise-grade automation solutions that accelerate threat triage, investigation, and remediation. Collaborate closely with security analysts, engineering teams, business stakeholders, and technical partners to gather feedback, identify operational needs, and deliver effective automation products. Develop reliable, high-performance web services and data pipelines designed to support growing operational demands and evolving security requirements. Improve service resilience, monitoring, and observability by identifying potential issues proactively and implementing solutions that enhance system reliability and quality. Participate in an on-call rotation to support the continuous availability and operational performance of critical security systems. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance, technical interviews, and the promotion of engineering standards and best practices. Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive work and operational overhead through automation, AI integration, and workflow optimization. Evaluate emerging technologies and apply AI-driven approaches to improve decision-making, engineering productivity, and security operations. Contribute to a collaborative, asynchronous engineering culture by sharing knowledge, communicating effectively, and supporting continuous learning and innovation. Requirements: 6–10 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, software development, scripting, cybersecurity, or a related technical field, with demonstrated growth in technical complexity and leadership responsibilities. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience and relevant industry certifications may be accepted in place of a degree. Professional programming experience in at least one of the following languages: Go (Golang), Python, JavaScript, C++, or Java, with a willingness to work with Go and JavaScript. Foundational knowledge of large language models (LLMs), agentic development systems, and practical applications of AI in engineering or cybersecurity workflows. Demonstrated experience building enterprise-grade web services, scalable data pipelines, or other production systems with strong reliability and performance requirements. Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. Operational knowledge of cloud technologies, databases such as PostgreSQL, messaging systems such as Kafka, Docker, and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. Proven technical leadership and mentoring abilities, supported by strong written and verbal communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively in a remote, globally distributed, and highly asynchronous environment while managing competing priorities and maintaining high-quality delivery. Demonstrated experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline processes, increase efficiency, and achieve measurable business outcomes. A collaborative mindset, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning, engineering excellence, and customer success. The following qualifications are considered an asset: Experience developing user interfaces and building services within microservices architectures. Expertise in high-level system design and the architecture of distributed, scalable systems. Cybersecurity experience with Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) platforms, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, endpoint security solutions, or security-focused product development. Familiarity with Unix systems, PowerShell, and associated scripting or administration tools. Experience in data science, agentic AI training, or the development of non-deterministic AI systems. Knowledge of prompt engineering, context engineering, and techniques for optimizing AI-powered workflows. Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Familiarity with cloud observability and monitoring tools. A proactive approach to improving team productivity through automation, with a strong commitment to reliability, quality, and technical growth. Benefits: Competitive compensation: Annual base salary ranging from CAD $150,000 to $200,000, depending on relevant experience, skills, certifications, and location. Additional compensation: Variable or incentive-based compensation and equity opportunities, subject to the applicable compensation program. Comprehensive benefits: Access to a competitive employee benefits package designed to support overall well-being. Physical and mental wellness: Comprehensive wellness programs supporting physical health and mental well-being. Paid time off: Competitive vacation allowances and leave programs to encourage rest, recovery, and work-life balance. Family support: Paid parental and adoption leave. Professional development: Learning and career development opportunities available to employees across roles and experience levels. Remote work flexibility: A remote position open to eligible candidates in Canada, with a distributed working environment that supports asynchronous collaboration. Inclusive workplace culture: Employee networks, regional community groups, and volunteer opportunities that encourage connection, collaboration, and belonging. Innovation-driven environment: Opportunities to work with advanced cybersecurity technologies, AI-powered systems, and large-scale security operations.
