Full job description

About Velora: 📍check out our company website: joinvelora.com Our product websites: keela.co raisely.com aplos.com We’re excited to share that Aplos, Raisely, and Keela have come together to form one unified company, Velora , with a shared mission: to help nonprofit organizations thrive. While we continue to offer the products you know and love, we now operate as one team, dedicated to making nonprofit work easier, more impactful, and more sustainable. Together, our combined expertise spans fundraising, donor management, financial tracking, and communications—offering a powerful suite of tools designed to reduce complexity so nonprofits can focus on what matters most: making a difference. We’re one company with 3 products all servicing customers in the impact space. Working at Velora means that you have the opportunity to build one or across all our products. We have a combination of merged teams and also teams dedicated to one specific product and you can find details about the work through our job descriptions under the “about the role” section.     About the role: This role supports Aplos / Aplos Pay . With Aplos, nonprofit groups of every shape, size, and mission can seamlessly run their finances and operations, manage their business and bottom line, and proactively engage their communities and donors when it matters most. We’re a remote team, spread across North America (with peers all over the world). Aplos is the largest nonprofit & church management software on the market. We’ve served over 40,000 organizations since our inception in 2009. Our all-inclusive platform provides a dynamic CRM, fundraising & giving tools, online donations & payment processing, built-in fund accounting system, integrated payroll, email marketing, website builder, and much more. As a Sr. Payments Risk Analyst, you own fraud and risk for  Aplos Pay — Velora’s payment volume where we take on the fraud risk. You’ll take over day-to-day transaction monitoring, then redesign the process so it scales with smarter rules, automation, and AI — as a true team-of-one partnered closely with Engineering leadership, Customer Success, and IT & Compliance. What will you be doing (your role)? Own day-to-day transaction monitoring and fraud / risk review for Aplos Pay, making clear, accountable risk decisions. Investigate suspicious activity end-to-end and document outcomes so decisions are consistent and auditable. Design, test, and iterate detection rules and monitoring workflows that catch bad activity earlier with fewer false positives. Reduce manual load by building practical automation so review capacity grows with payment volume. Partner with Customer Success on merchant and customer risk issues; escalate thoughtfully when policy or compliance judgment is needed. Partner with IT & Compliance and security stakeholders to keep payments risk aligned with Velora’s broader security and compliance posture. Create the operating rhythm for a team-of-one: playbooks, prioritization, and feedback loops without waiting for constant direction. Use AI and data tools to speed investigations, spot patterns, and propose rule / process changes — while keeping human judgment on final risk calls. (finalize with Option A or B below) Track what “good” looks like (e.g. leakage caught, review effort, false positives) and continuously improve the process. Enable safe onboarding of more customers onto Aplos Pay as monitoring becomes scalable and reliable. What we’re looking for (requirements): About 5+ years of hands-on payments fraud / risk analysis experience Proven ownership of fraud or risk outcomes (not only completing a review queue), including judgment under ambiguity. Comfort operating as a team of one : high autonomy, resilience, and the ability to create structure without heavy management overhead. Familiarity with payment processors / rails and fraud tooling; experience working with Stripe (or similar) is an asset Evidence you’ve implemented AI or meaningful automation in a risk, fraud, ops, or similar workflow in previous roles (not only personal ChatGPT use). Clear, candid communicator who collaborates well with Customer Success, compliance, and engineering partners. Strong business awareness: you connect risk decisions to customer trust, payment volume growth, and nonprofit impact. Strong interest in building technical solutions with AI, which could include experience with SQL, APIs, building internal processes, etc. Why work with us? If you need more convincing, here’s the rest of it: 💵 Salary – Compensation band $90K - $125K CAD.  Your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and geographic location. 🏝️ Paid Time Off — Canada: Everyone gets 4 weeks paid leave plus 11 days of public holidays, as well as an ‘end of year shutdown’ which is an extra 2 week company holiday. Plus, you are entitled to generous paid sick leave. 🌴 Work remotely — We’re a remote-first company - live and work wherever you’re happiest (within approved hire locations). 🤷 Training — We’ll support you when you want to learn new skills or pay for conference or course tickets. ❤️ Health Coverage & Retirement — Canada & US: We offer robust medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance coverages and have a 4% match on Retirement.   If you have any questions or require accommodations in the interview process, please reach out to recruitment@joinvelora.com .
